Robin, I am so sorry.

I'm one of the fortunate who got to meet this sweet boy at Dewey. Once again, I find myself with tears streaming for a dog who wasn't my own. We will miss Iker here.

Iker, go find Rocket and the rest of the crew. They'll show you around. Run-free sweet boy. :f_red

It was a shock to me, too. Liver failure. Seemed to happen incredibly fast but of course he would have been ill for quite a while. Tuesday they thought it was manageable pancreatitis, by this morning he looked like he was near death (he was), had completely stopped eating, and was incredibly weak.

The thread title alone brought tears to my eyes. Robin, my heart aches for you. Bless you for providing the things Iker needed most at the time he needed them. May that be some comfort as you deal with this loss.

Iker, I salute you. You lived through hell and made it out, though you bore visible scars of that for the rest of your life. Through it all you remained your sweet, gentle self. You were a global traveler. You found a wonderful, loving home. You opened your heart to the person who brought you there and over time you learned to trust and have fun. You found another galgo friend and roommate, half a world away from where you both started. I believe you learned to feel safe, comfortable, happy and content. That is what we all want and all any of us really need. Run free, Iker, feeling safe and happy for all eternity.

Iker was my first introduction to galgos. He was a survivor and a gentle soul. You gave him a great life. Despite what Xavi says, dont pee on Beatrix when you see her over the bridge.
