macoduck
Many of you may know Suzie and Brian Collins (Greyhound Health Initiative). They've lost greyhounds to osteo in the past. A week ago they lost their Isabelle to osteo and now Petey has the same diagnosis. I don't know what their plan is for him. Petey's famous photobomb: Suzie posted this quote on Facebook: “We, who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.” —Irving Townsend Quote Freshy (Droopys Fresh), NoAh the podenco orito, Howie the portuguese podengo maneto Angels: Rita the podenco maneta, Lila, the podenco, Mr X aka Denali, Lulu the podenco andaluz, Hada the podenco maneta, Georgie Girl (UMR Cordella), Charlie the iggy, Mazy (CBR Crazy Girl), Potato, my mystery ibizan girl, Allen (M's Pretty Boy), Percy (Fast But True), Mikey (Doray's Patuti), Pudge le mutt, Tessa the iggy, Possum (Apostle), Gracie (Dusty Lady), Harold (Slatex Harold), "Cousin" Simon our step-iggy, Little Dude the iggy ,Bandit (Bb Blue Jay), Niña the galgo, Wally (Allen Hogg), Thane (Pog Mo Thoine), Oliver (JJ Special Agent), Comet, & Rosie our original mutt. Guest gjohnson1989
Hello all, First post here. Our girl, Party age 10, was recently found to have osteo in her front right leg. We're having a ton of issues finding the right medication regimen for her to be comfy. Currently she's taking 600 mg of tramadol, a Tylenol3, and 1000 mg gabapentin, and a few drops of CBD oil in her food at breakfast and dinner. She's still panting a ton (tramadol side effect?) and cannot get comfortable or get good rest. She can't take NSAIDs due to a terrible reaction she had a couple weeks ago that we almost lost her to. We have an appointment at the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital tomorrow thanks to a referral from our vet. I was hoping to hear others' experiences with different medication regimens and what worked best. We're leery to get the limb amputated because we don't want her to be in pain from the surgery plus she'd have to go under anesthesia once to scan her body to ensure the cancer has not metastasized in her lungs or heart. Then she'd have to be put under again for the actual amputation. We're nervous about all this anesthesia in our senior girl. We don't think she's ready to go, she still meets us at the door when we get home and does the horse stomp and she eats well. But, she's been in pain for the last month and we don't know what to do because of her sensitivity to NSAIDS and how little the pain meds seem to be helping. Anything would be greatly appreciated. We're desperate to help her. Edited April 17, 2018 by gjohnson1989
