We never got to know Carol all that well; she was a healthy petite dark brindle greyhound girlie who we saw once a year for her annual workup. Until Feb of this year. She was hospitalized for "not doing well" and we found her kidneys were starting to fail. Her mom wanted only what was best for her, and to spend a little more quality time with her. She was stabilized, doing better, went home. Today we got a fax from an er clinic in town. Her mom had an accident in her car yesterday......Carol was in the back seat and thrown to the front. Spinal fracture, lost use of both rear limbs. Due to her age (12), her renal disease, and the grave prognosis after the accident, she was euthanized. I'm so sorry your life was cut short, pretty girl. Maybe the great greyhound spirit didn't want you to suffer longer with your renal issue. I hope your mom is ok. I'll call her in a day or so & check on her. I could tell how much you loved each other. You were 2 little old ladies (mom in 70's) trying to grow old(er) with a little grace & dignity. I wish I had known last night so I could have looked for a new star in the night sky. I'll look tonight for sure. Quote Blessed is the person who has earned the love of an old dog. She will feel guilty, I hope there are people around her to help her with that. Please let her know there are many folks who feel her pain and send her support and comfort.
