Guest BBear Posted July 4, 2017 Share Posted July 4, 2017 I have some sad news today, we had to let our dear Buffy go. Buffy was diagnosed with osteosarcoma on her left front leg 15 months ago. She had an amputation Late April 2016. She did well after surgery and moved around fine, up and down stairs. Buffy started to list a bit to the right side and I initially suspected that she had corns or had hurt one of her left leg toes. Once rest and rimadyl didn't help, X-rays were in order and it showed the tell tale sign of Osteosarcoma on her left rear leg. All along we had listened to every cough or sneeze and dreaded that the disease had spread to the lungs but it affected a bone instead. Since the diagnosis we kept her comfortable. Buffy is stoic and while she didn't verbalize pain we started noticing some signs of discomfort late last week. Over the weekend we realized it was time. Today was Buffy's birthday. We were thinking about perhaps picking a different day but honestly she started having some trouble sitting down today and we couldn't put her through pain once our minds were made. I would like to think on her first birthday Buffy was born with her brith family and on her last she spent it with her adoptive family. Buffy was quiet, smart but also a complete princess and somewhat of a weirdo. She was scared of stray dunkin donuts cups on the sidewalk and balloon were absolutely terrifying. We loved all of it. We are going to miss her but the past 5+ years were a blast. We wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Be well my darling. You will forever have a place in my heart.
