ShebasMom Posted December 6, 2021 Share Posted December 6, 2021 I had to let go of my Sheba this afternoon, 1 month before her 14th birthday. I had her for 12 years and 1 month. She stopped eating Friday, and since she was a true chow hound who always let me know she wanted food, I knew she was telling me something. She also stopped barking at me, another sign. Her hips were going, and she totally collapsed at the vet's office. The vet and I agreed it was time to let her go. Undergoing tests would just have prolonged the inevitable. My heart is broken, but as we all know, better a day early than a day too late. The house is so empty without my snarky, boisterous, sometimes pain-in-the-ass hound. She loved all greyhounds and hated cats, small dogs, squirrels, and skateboards. Her greyhound friend Averitt passed away November 23, so they are both at the Rainbow Bridge.
