greysmom
Endoscopy is over. Still more mixed results for our Dorie girl. Her whole intestinal tract is very inflamed and diseased. Plus she saw some evidence that parts of it had shut down and were not working at all. It's definitely a very bad case of IBD. No overt evidence of cancer that she could see, but that is technically still on the table. She had some bleeding issues during the surgery at the biopsy sites, and some panicky issues coming out of anesthesia. Both were resolved t the doctors satisfaction, and she said they were both things she anticipated given Dorie's low physical condition. Dr Brown has started Dorie on her first dose of prednisone and vitamin B-12. If she continues to recover and makes gains with her new meds, and we think she can handle the situation here at home with two brothers and two sisters, Dorie can hopefully come home tomorrow. Dorie's prognosis and future treatment are still hinging on the results of the biopsy, which won't be in for a day or two. Though even if she responds well to treatment and everything goes perfectly, we're still only looking at 4 to 8 months. And it could be significantly less. I'm going to go see her later tonight. tbhounds
To give you hope-- my boy was just as sick with his ibd-- with great medical care and lots and lots of TLC he held his disease at bay for 3 years! Eventually his ibd morphed into cancer and I had to let him go but, he had 3 happy, couch loving years first.

GreyPoopon
I hope you get some answers from the endoscopy lab results and something can be found to help Dorie soon. I have one non-grey with two types of severe IBD (not PLE). It's awful, especially for the dog, but sometimes it works out well.
