Kestrel
After Falcon's death, we found ourselves without a greyhound in the house for the first time in 12 years, and it was AWFUL! So we told our group we wanted to adopt a brood, and if there was a second hound who would be a good match for her and for us, we would be happy to have two. We are so lucky that they matched us with Lucia, who will be eight in May. She ran 69 races and has two litters registered. They also matched us with Henry, who was born in her second litter. He will be two next week, and he doesn't have any races entered in the database. It's been so much fun getting to know them! They are both mellow, affectionate, and very people oriented. Lucia spent a lot of time in her crate at first, but has now discovered the beds in other rooms. Henry has destroyed a few stuffies already and has taken up nitting. Lucia definitely rolls her eyes at him sometimes, but tolerates his antics or tells him to cut it out the way only his mother could. It's only been about a week and I know their personalities will continue to come out over time. Lucia, left, and Henry, right, demonstrate the family sleeping position: Sharing a bed: Welcome, Lucia and Henry! Quote Kendra, devoted walker of Henry (Tom Jones: Great Son x Lucia) Missing Badger (Vf Get R Done: Quicksand Slip x Ll Tee el See), 5/04 - 2/14, who opened our hearts and our home to greyhounds; Kenzie (Slatex Kenzie: Randy Handy x Slatex Chrisy), 4/03 - 10/14, who really knew what a good dog she was; Falcon (Atascocita Sabat: Dodgem by Design x Atascocita Barb), 9/10 - 1/20, who was grumpy and snarky but eventually a little bit cuddly, too; Grandpa Grey the Galgo Español, 2008 (?) to 2022, who made us feel lucky to be the ones to teach him about pet life; and Lucia (Larking About x Anastasia, 5/12 to 8/23), our first brood matron and the sweetest speckly girl. racindog
One of the most joyful experiences of my life was being blessed to be Mom to Momma Seabird and her daughter Bobber. I was also blessed to foster several of Momma's 57 babies. Momma & Bobber were were so intensely bonded! Bobber loved her Mom soooo much. She doted on her and did little random acts of kindness to her-like giving her Mom her bully stick etc. She would follow her Mom around and watch to make sure the other dogs didn't get too rough around her Mom. It was an amazing thing to watch over the years-quite a love story-beautiful. You are in for a most wonderful experience.

EllenEveBaz
What fun! Both such lookers individually, and so striking together! Were they separated for a while and then reunited at the adoption program? Lucia may have been all "I thought I'd gotten all you out of my hair."
