Clare Greyhound Sanctuary is a privately run refuge for rescued and retired greyhounds in Ireland. The dogs at the sanctuary live in groups rather than kennels in order to prepare them for pet life. They learn their names and household manners, get housebroken and socialised. In Ireland Greyhounds are often perceived as unsuitable as pets, so finding suitable homes for pet greyhounds is a tough job. The sanctuary works with adoption groups throughout Europe to get them adopted. The sanctuary has had some huge vet bills the last couple of weeks and their bank account is sadly depleted.
