aka Huston

All day I've been trying to figure out how to fit a "one in a million" dog into one post and I finally decided I can't.

Many thanks to: Denise Grossman, the one who helped me find "the one who has been called ugly", Dee Hansen who adopted him to me, Mary Young who hosted us that weekend he came home, his wonderful vets Robin Robinett Dvm, Patricia Baley and Dr. Ben Tharp (Voss Rd Animal Hospital) the wonderful surgeon who gave us more time and held my hand the last few weeks, Shelley Ann Lake who helped during the evening hours keep him comfortable, a wonderful support staff: Jerri L. O'Donohoe, Marilyn Varnberg, Toni Kane and Jey Flick and many others.

As much as Huston loved events (so many butts to sniff), he was not a dog's dog, he was a people's dog. Over the years we (I had to be the play partner, not another dog) played, stuffy, grab the feet, boxing, bitey face, attack the sweeper and on and on :)

He was so sad this morning when I told him it was time to go (he couldn't walk) but knew that he had to. A smart, intuitive and independent soul, I asked him to find my Mom and that they had better both be there to great me when I come.

Nothing will be the same again, nothing.....

Diane, I am so sorry to see that you had to say goodbye to Huston. He was absolutely a one-of-a-kind pup, a real treasure that was meant to be with you. I know the heartache you are feeling. Please know my thoughts are with you.

Rest well sweet Huston! f_yellow

One in a billion, who was so lucky to find that one in a billion home.

I remember being elated and relieved when he went to you. I knew he would be understood and cherished and thought amazingly handsome and talented, and he was.

Godspeed, Huston. Send your momma some kisses on the wind, and maybe speak a little so she knows it's really you.

I'm so sorry, Diane. I remember when you adopted Hughes, and thinking how lucky you were to have each other, and how jealous I was because you adopted a Reko.
