  1. Eureka went to the bridge yesterday afternoon because of osteo in her front right leg. She left a litermate sister at my house that she had never been away from the time they were born. She let me know 1 month & 3 days before that something was not right & this past weekend she was ready to fly away. My Prince has lost so many housemates to various cancers that he just looked at me with a sad "not another one" look when he smelled cancer in here. He has been with me for 10+ of his 12 years & is trying to be strong for this loss. Eureka & V came to me last fall when Prince & I lost our Honey to a heart attack & were a big help for Prince as he had never been alone before. Eureka is the 21 grey that I have lost to cancer & when the vet came in to administer the shots she said I sure picked a hard breed to love but I said I wouldn't stop loving them because of the cancers. My vet let me be in the room with her so she didn't go alone for which I am thankful because I've seen so many people say they haven't been allowed to be with their dog at the end. It is quiet here since Eureka always barked when she wanted to go out & neither Prince nor V do that. I hate cancer is all its forms no matter if it is a dog, cat, or person it attacks. Everyone hug your hounds & look skyward tonight see if you can see a new bright star that will be Eureka racing to the bridge.
  2. My beautiful Honey was very afraid of thunder & the hours of storms we had Wed night were too much for her. After she went outside with her brother early yesterday morning she came in & climbed up on the dog couch where I dried her off left the room for a few minutes & when I walked back to check on her she was gone. I never thought this would happen as she always was a happy health girl, when my SIL came to put her in the car for me he said he wasn't too surprised, Run free Honey & watch over Prince & me. We love you
  3. My two think raw turkey is a great treat. Last night I gave them so chicken gizzards mixed in their kibble but they wheren't too impressed. I tried ground turkey that I cooked for them & they ate it but never asked for more. If it is fresh it should be ok for them.
  4. Enjpyed following Summit on GT. & I'm sorry he had to leave you.
  5. Honey is my 10 yr old broodie that says welcome home Petunia! I bet Rocket had a hand in sending her your way These old broods make good nurses if either of you get sick as Honey showed when I had a serious fall & hit my head knocking me out, she kept checking on me all night & made me get up every hour.. Glad you have her.
  6. I'm so sorry, hugs to you from north TX
  7. It seems like w had more than 3 years to love that wonderful boy. I'm so sorry he had to leave. Hugs to all he left behind.
  8. I'm sorry for your loss. My you have a small dog come cuddle you in the night as I did after Noelle did. Even my doctor said it happened as she wanted me to know she was safely across the bridge.
  9. So sorry to see this. Rocket will be missed by many. Hugs to you & Cjris.
  10. Greg, I am so sorry she had leave but she will always be in your heart. She was a beautiful girl.
  11. I just lost my 4 yr old to osteo, it too staarted with the wrist & 3 weeks after the first vet visit he got his wings. Please be careful with this.
  12. I use Victor Yukon Valley Salomon & sweet potato for my old boy He was having a hard time with foods with chicken but is doing well on this. I used other Victor foods for other dogs before & they served us well. One good thing about this food is that Prince does not have "fishy breath". Give is a try.
  13. Sorry about Conrad, as others said he was enjoyable for all of us. Bisbee sounds up to the job of helping your hert heal.
  14. When I ran an adoption group we had a girl bounce that the owner said she had kidney issues but it turned out they would not let her drink when she wanted. At first she wouldn't drink if a person was in the same room as the water bowl sd she was afraid the bowl would be removed so I finally took her to the water bowl & stood next to her talking quietly until she drank & in a week of this she found she was allowed water as she needed it & she never had any issues again. Good luck with your new girl & remember we love pictures!
  15. What a wonderful story & reminder of the joy our dogs bring.
  16. I've had 2 dogs that had bad reactions to tramadol as I do & the vets always said it was strange that it isn't suppose to cause that reaction but dogs are like people they all get different reactions to meds. Hoping she gets to feeling better soon.
  17. Hope everything goes well & that she heals well. My boys send get well snuffles to Shine & I send hugs to you & Len. Pleae let us know how she does.
  18. Thank you again for posting a very good article. I had a vet tell my that my Aussie/Healer girl suffered from this but after paying more attention to how she ate, drank & played I found she didn't suffer from any problems of this type, in fact Speckie was very healthy & lived a long life as the mother to all fosters as well as my own dogs for 13 years. I wish there were more holistic vets around to treat our pets.
  19. Sorry to see, remember was happy with you even if it was for time. Hugs to you & your husband.
  20. My Annie will meet her at the bridge & show her around. My Annie also had that damned osteo. I'm so sorry for both of you, just remember all the good times.
