I have noticed that when one of my little dogs is hurting, he yelps if any other hound gets near him, maybe a "fear of getting bumped" thing? When my little dachshunds have had problems from jumping, twisting, whatever, they acted exactly as you described Joe, not interested in food, reluctant to move. I personally know how painful muscle problems are, they can put me out of commission until I get to the chiropractor.
