Oh, Lori, I am just seeing this and I am devastated. In addition to her basketball pictures I loved her sofa series. I made them into jigsaw puzzles. Just the thought of her name always brings a smile to my face. I am so very sorry for your loss.

I consulted an animal communicator about my 13yr/7mo. Bancroft and her eating habits. I was told that what tastes good in the morning doesn't always later in the day. She also has some oral pain but she doesn't want surgery. In addition to that, the digestive tract is slowing down and just not working as well. I've made drastic changes to accommodate her needs. She now gets whatever she wants which may be hamburger, sausages, mackerel, cream cheese, peanut butter, chicken liver, pizza...Everything is now almost pureed, and it helps if it is a little warm. The list of previous preferences is much longer. I am thinking that she was close to 12 when she showed less interest in eating. I then added chicken to the kibble and that went well for a long time. Be observant and patient and just know that it might not be a behavior problem but her age.

Sounds like depression/grieving. I'm lucky enough to have a neighbor with two greys. A few times a week I walk over and bring them here for a few hours. All are very excited for a short while and wander around outside. The rest of the time they all sleep. But they all definitely benefit emotionally from the visits.

She had you wrapped around her little paw. I will dearly miss your stories of her. We all share your sorrow.

Bancroft did the same thing her first winter with me. Kept it clean, used antiobiotic ointment, covered with a sock. Took a while to heal but I knew it would be worthless to try to suture the area. There just wasn't much to suture, so it was a matter of getting the sides of the two toes involved to heal. I agree, feet problems are miserable. She now has SLO and is losing nails. Plastic bag with duck tape, then sock and tape works well to go out, but is time consuming for her. So far the three types of boots I have tried do not work well at all.

Michelle, I tried to pm you but you don't have enough of posts. Weisers has boneless skinless chicken breasts on sale, $1.99/lb, packs run about $7. I stock up when it's this price. I cut the pieces length wise and boil close to an hour until it is really tender. Give her a gentle hug from me. I am SO glad that the visit went well. Lori was worried that Micah would be too active for Libby, but it sounds like Libby needed the visit from her friend. sue

Michelle I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how spunky Libby was when we arrived for her photo shoot tonight. She is just the prettiest and sweetest little girl. For some reason, I felt a warm bond with her from the first time I saw her, and I used to tell others how adorable she was. I hope you will be satisfied with the pictures, that along with the tears they will bring you smiles. I realize that tonight was probably my last time to see her and my heart is aching, my eyes are leaking. She seems fairly comfortable on the meds at this time. Give her a gentle hug from me. Oh, Shirley, I remember how he loved his pool while on the farm. I couldn't get him out of it to change the water sometimes. Soon as I dumped it and rinsed it and put it back on the ground, he was back in it. He didn't care how dirty it got. He was like the lord of his little manor, standing with his nose in the air. Very independent. And every one of his puppies was a fantastic dog. I am so glad that he had you as his last mom. You are a wonderful dog mom. sue and bancroft

Deb and John, by the second paragraph the tears were flowing down my cheeks. What a touching story, and she finally landed in the perfect home, which is what matters the most. I'm sure the holes in your hearts are huge right now. You've had more hardships and losses than most of us could endure. NEVER underestimate his abilities. I gave up asking "how" did that dog get ahold of that, find that, mangle that so badly, ...on and on. She got ahold of 3 pounds of potatoes and chewed every one of them-in the living room, all over the floor, the sofa, the comforter-pink potato juice everywhere. Why? Because we were raking and taking the leaves down into the woods, I wouldn't let her outside for her safety. I've seen them work at the smallest opening to make their exit. have fun, sue

I agree with the others to dog proof all the doors to the outside, then the fence gates when they are installed. When I worked on the dog farm we had a grey who opened most doors and gates. He inherited the ability from his mother, who, shortly after birthing her litter, unlatched the door and took a jaunt to the nearby Amish farm, not once but twice. The farmer would call and say "Your big black dog is over here." Booker is happily living in Easton, PA, with safely secured door latches. I now laugh at myself when I think how cautious I was when introducing my first grey to my little dogs and cats. Bessie was such a gentle soul, she must have thought I was insane with the precautions I took for such a long time. She tolerated me and loved me anyway. Have a blast with your handsome new son.

I'd take that dog in a heartbeat. Finances make no difference. If the dog needed care, the finances worked out, even if it took a while to get the bill paid off. Vets don't always know everything. They told me my kitten wouldn't live a year. She lived 7 fantastic years.

He will be on my mind until I hear from you. You know how nervous I am with anesthesia. Hug him for Maxine and me and tell him that he will feel better after that tooth is gone. I was wondering when the dental was scheduled. I knew it was coming up.

What a precious and priceless video of Tornado and Soul together! I've seen littermates who ignored each other, and littermates who were all over each other. Don't you wish you knew what they were saying? My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Being a nurse, I've gotten up at every hour of the day and night to go to work. I tell them what's going on and when I hope to be home. They've done just fine. Just take it all in stride and don't stress over it. I think that's what bothers dogs the most. They feel our stress.

You recently mentioned her upcoming birthday and I had a feeling she wouldn't make it. I'm so very sorry that she didn't but I think it's really special that you will celebrate it anyway. As has been said, ALL will miss her and her antics. My deepest sympathy to your family. May you soon smile through your tears when all those forgotten memories come to mind.
