  8. Thank you everyone, we miss him so much. I have to go work at a meet and greet today and I am hoping I can keep it together. Then again, it might be a nice distraction to be around a bunch of other hounds.. Dakota is not himself. I know he knows.
  9. Today we had to say goodbye to our sweet, handsome 11 year old Toby. He had been limping on his right front leg for the last few weeks. As soon as it started, I began suspecting the dreaded osteo, so I started him on pain meds. It got to the point this week that he was having trouble bearing weight on his right leg. I took him to the vet today and she confirmed osteo. We had no choice but to say goodbye. Thankfully, my husband, older son, and I were all off work today, and our younger son is home from college, so we all were able to be with him as he passed peacefully. I don't even know where to begin to describe Toby. He was our first greyhound. He came to us 8 years ago, straight off the track at Derby Lane. He was loveable, gorgeous, and had the most perfect, happy temperament. He lost an eye last year to glaucoma but other than than this he was in wonderful shape and enjoyed going on hikes and outings up until this last month. We will miss him terribly but I am so thankful for him. Because of him I have made so many friends and I like to think that through my greyhound volunteer work I've helped a few hounds find their forever homes, too. I hope to see him again someday and hope he is running pain-free again at the Bridge with Robin, our other greyhound angel. He will be forever missed. Rest in peace, sweet baby. We love you so very much. First picture I ever saw of him. I knew I had to have him! Total sweetheart, always so happy! He was a sight to see when he was running full speed. I hope he and Robin are running together again at the Rainbow Bridge. I can't believe they are both gone now. Our handsome boy. Even though he lost an eye to glaucoma last year, he was still our handsome boy, who loved going on outings and hikes.

  11. I am so sorry for your loss. Rest in peace, sweet Disco. You could not have been more loved.
  12. I know prairieprof, you are right. Would have been even worse if it had happened within a few days of him moving in with his new parents. No comment on the original owner who put a hound they had had for 7 years on craigslist. 7 years!!
  13. Thanks, everyone. The adoptive family is shocked and grieving. I am hoping when they are ready, they will consider adopting another greyhound Quinn would have been their first hound.
  14. Something horrible happened last night. A couple months back, our group took in a nearly 12 year old greyhound that had been placed on craigslist by his longtime owner. A couple fell in love with the hound and they were all set to have him delivered to their (perfect) home today. Last night, that hound, Quinn, slipped on tile floor, and was in extreme pain. He was rushed to the e-vet who confirmed a badly fractured humerus and osteosarcoma. We had no choice but to end his pain. The worst was having to call his adoptive parents, who were all excited that he was coming to his forever home the next day, and tell them that Quinn had passed away. Several of our adoption group members were able to go to the e-vet and tell Quinn goodbye. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Quinn was so happy living with his foster mom, and would have loved his forever home that he should have been moving into today.
  15. I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Sheana. Rest in peace, sweetie.
  16. Made me cry, but so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
  17. I'm so sorry you've lost your beloved Maddie. What a beautiful picture of the two of you at the beach! Sending hugs to you.
  18. Yes, that's the one. I agree with greysmom that it should be pinned in T&B.
  19. I have it in pdf format. Can I attach a pdf to a post? If so, let me know how and I will. ETA it may be a bit much for some people but we are going to start sharing this with adopters as we've just had a hound returned to us in less than one week because he (gasp) ran after a farm animal while visiting a farm, even though he was muzzled and no harm done. How dare the dog run after a farm animal? And why was he running loose? Perfection expected.
  20. I've been looking for it on GT and can't find it. It's that great post that tells what radical changes a newly adopted hound has been through comparing their old life on the farm and track to their new life living in a regular house. We have someone who has given up on a newly adopted hound in less than a week. It's not going to change that adopter's mind, but I'd like for future potential adopters tor read it. Can anyone please share it? Thanks.
  21. I'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved Peace.
