"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." -- Unknown

Just now seeing this and so happy to see that she is eating and keeping food down. Dr. Cuoto and his team are amazing and I am so glad he was able to diagnose so quickly. Adding more healing thoughts for your beautiful Lexi. Hugs and scritches.

Ok, Lexi is eating k/d and drinking and keeping every bit down! She even jumped on the couch today!..which she hasn't done since last Saturday! Some of her adema has gone away but now her abdomen is larger...guessing ascites from improper kidney function? I don't understand why in all other aspects she is doing so much better but now her abdomen has me worried. At this time, she is breathing comfortably, but I am watching her like a hawk. She is also on the kidney supplement and still getting some fluids so...gosh... she's made it this far, her kidneys can't crap out now! Ughhh... I just hope this is her last battle and her kidneys will be happier tomorrow. I will just continue to monitor her through the night and keep her comfortable and hope for the very best. I know she can beat this!! I hope this nightmare is over soon. She doesn't deserve to go through this... Thank you for all the continued prayers and wishes...they definetely helped me and her!

Good News about the eating, drinking and wanting to be on the couch!

You are probably right about the ascities, being related to the kidneys. Hopefully, the kidneys will regain their function, or most of it, and everything will be okay. Maybe your vet could drain off some of the abdominal ascities tomorrow? That would surely make her more comfortable! Might want to take a listen to her lungs to be sure they are clear of crackles.

Good Luck, lots of love and hugs from us here!
