  1. I have had a few ghs on thyroid meds. I have always given it to them one hr prior to meals or 3 hours after meals. Now I am being told don't need to do that just pop it in their food. Thoughts? Here is picture of our 8 y.o. gh, Patch, that we adopted in Dec.
  2. So very very sorry to hear this. Callie had it made in the hay living with your family. Hugs
  3. I am not on GT much but I knew I had to come to this forum. As always your tribute's to your pack are heart warming and melt our hearts. I am so sorry that your time with Dottie B was short but thankful she had the best home after she lost her other guardian. Can't begin to tell you how sorry I am to hear this. Your heart and soul has always been filled with love for your "campers". All the "campers" are blessed to be with you and I am truly blessed to have you as a friend.
  4. Oh Jan I am just seeing this post. I am so very sorry. Knowing you like I do you so love your ghs with all of your heart and I know this was a passing that was very hard on you. Three years with you was not enough time as we know but it probably was the best three years of his life. Hugs to you my dear friend.
  5. So very very sorry to hear this. A greyt tribute to him and thank you for sharing him with all of us
  6. Jan, is the autopsy done yet? Hope you will be able to share the results with us. You and all the campers are still in our thoughts.
  7. Needless to say I was shocked to get your email today saying Paddy was at the bridge. An absolutely beautiful tribute to his life. Jan, you have a way with words and you bring them to life each time I see your writing. So wish I had the chance to meet Mayhem. RIP Paddy Alvin Mayhem. You were well loved and your certainly left Camp Greyhound way too soon
  8. Positive update on Baker. He has nose mites and will get a shot for it. Taking our other dog in today since she has been exposed and will get her a shot too. Now I need to notify everyone that has done a M & G with him that their gh has been exposed.
  9. Baker will see primary vet tomorrow and do nasal scope and perhaps ultrasound/x-ray. Depending on what results we get tomorrow we will get a referral over to the specialist and have CT done. Thank you everyone for your responses.
  10. Has any one had a gh with the diagnosis of nasal tumor. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.
  11. Has any one had a gh that was diagnosed with a nasal tumor? Any info would be appreciated. I have done my research and found an article on it by the National Canine Cancer Foundation. Thank you
  12. Very sad to read this post. I certainly feel your pain since losing Mariah sudden and unexpected. This was a beautiful tribute to Zeke and we can only imagine the void in your lives as well as the pups. RIP Zeke. Hugs to you and Jim, the boys and of course the pups.
  13. Does your husband do any one on one with your dog such as walking the dog, taking rides in the car with him. Any interaction with hubby alone with the dog when you are not around. Does he feed the dog or give the dog treats. In all the years I have been involved in gh rescue I have only seen this once and it was in a house where the gh was ignored by a member of the family. I am not saying that is the same situation but that is what I encountered many years ago with a family. The dog did not like the wife and the dog would pee on her clothes and shoes. The dog ended up being a bounce back. I know your husband works long hours but perhaps see if he can have some one on one time with your dog and see if that makes any difference. Worth a try. Good luck!
  14. I read on FB about the Burt's Bee Hand Salve and have just started putting it on twice a day. Fingers crossed. We pretty much keep her corns hulled on a weekly basis and she wears booties when she walks outside.
  15. I have a corn dog and I would not suggest surgery to have them removed. gh rescue did surgery to remove them all and they all came back. surgery was very painful for her
  16. We are facing this with our 14 y.o. gh and it happens and she does not know it. Pee pants for her
  17. Please check with a holistic vet as our gh had kidney issues and we took her in once a month for an oxygen treatment (don't know what it was called) but his method delivered oxygen to her kidneys.
  18. a gh friend of ours had a gh that was very gassy. She was feeding the dog two meals per day. She is now feeding three meals a day with the same amount of kibble split into three meals - gas is gone
  19. We have seniors with few teeth so I bake their own treats. Inexpensive and easy to do. Be sure to refrigerate
  20. Very very sad. Even though I did not know her my heart goes out to the family.
  21. Been doing holistic care with Chinese herbs, chiro and acu since 2001 when my bridge baby was paralyzed. I truly believe it made a difference in her quality of life.
  22. I do homemade treats at our home so inexpensive and so easy pure canned pumpkin, organic brown rice flour, cinnamon, fresh parsley, fresh cranberries, raw eggs, dry milk, molasses, raw oats. use melon scooper. bake 25 mins for crunchy 35 degrees. need to freeze or refrigerate as there are no preservatives.
  23. someone on FB mentioned they use organic raw shea butter every night and put booties on their feet at night. I just ordered it from iherb and will give it a try
