Pinky is home! We returned from the vet at about 4:30, she and Cody sniffed a hello and then she went straight for her favorite bed in the living room where she remained until I called "dinner" and she was up and ready to eat. She is still a little wobbly so we took a short walk but she did good considering where she was 36hrs ago.

As suspected she's on 1/4 of a baby aspirin once a day potentially for life. She had 2 chest x-rays, an ultrasound and a thyroid test. Results from her thyroid test should be back Monday but the chest x-ray did show a small spot of something but the doc is referring it to a radiologist so we know more on Monday. It only showed up in one of the x-rays and not the other and the ultrasound tech couldn't find it either.

It feels good to have her back home but am anxious to know the rest of the test results.

Oh and trying to quarter a baby aspirin takes skill w/o mashing it to bits! :lol

If you aren't using one, try a pill splitter. Also, there is reduced dose aspirin for adults who want to take it daily (I think to help ward off Alzheimer's). Depending on how the doses compare, you might have less or easier splitting to do with those.

Makes a heart glad to know how well Pinky is doing.

This is reduced dose, 81mg. I don't have a pill splitter, just a really sharp knife. I'll see if I can get a splitter.

Welcome home, Pinky!

Your dad might find it easier splitting the aspirins if he just used his fingernails instead of a knife. Both thumbnails are suggested.

Ask if you can do one half an aspirin every other day. Or, is there a liquid form?

Pinky seems to be doing even better today, she is more alert and has hopped up on the couch and my bed as usual. I knew she was feeling better when she came trotting into the kitchen at the sound of a crinkling bag.

Glad Pinky is home where she belongs :)

We split a store brand pepcid in to quarters for my granddog, and it is difficult. A good pill splitter is a blessing. In addition to what others have said about different types of asprin, there is low dose adult size and also Bayer has a women's low dose asprin that is caplet shaped and pretty big. It also has calcium carbonate for the tummy.

Ha! Try splitting a Zantac (basically same size) into 8ths, which is what I have to do for the cat.

Jay, here's the pill alsplitter I use. Works very well to split, and relatively easy to cut those into quarters. I use a knife after that.
