Pinky Was In The Hospital... (Update Post #77, 90)

I woke up to her whining at ~4am and noticed she had gotten sick. I got up, got dressed and when I asked her to get up to go out she couldn't. So off to the e-vet we went, their was nothing physical or obvious they could find so they referred me to a neurologist which we went to promptly. She's not in any pain and has feeling and mobility all over but they find that she is basically dizzy (hence the vomiting earlier). Right now they are doing blood work and other test on her to try and figure out what is affecting her brain to make her feel that way since all the typical reasons aren't there. An MRI may be in her future but the doc didn't want to start off with that in case blood work showed something.

Then to top it all off, when I got home I wanted to wash what I was wearing as it had a lot of bodily fluids on it and I didn't realize my iPhone was in my jeans pocket until it got good and soaked.

So good thoughts for my little Pinky pop would be appreciated.

The symptoms sound very much like Vestibular Syndrome which our greyhound Hobbes experienced. It takes a few days to recover (and varies with each dog) but gradually the symptoms disappear. Hope Pinky will be fine and back to normal quickly.

Prayers for Pinky! Hope it's just a vestibular incident or something just as benign.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone.

The first e-vet mentioned that but said he didn't think that is what it was because of how she was presenting.

The doc just called me and said her blood work is normal, except for a slightly low platelet count but he wasn't concerned and said this at least rules out infection. He's thinking stroke but wants to wait and see if she gets better, worse or has no change over the next 24hrs and then re-evaluate the need for an MRI etc...

And rice is your friend (for the phone).

Thanks. I've heard that before but have never had to try it. Lets see if I have rice...
