Busderpuddle
Ruby has been acting weird for several days now and she is going in to the vet today at 1:00. She has been coughing/hacking and last night it went on all night. She has also been panting and I cannot figure out why. She is not hot, but I worry she is in pain. She is still eating well, so will see what the vet has to say today. She will be seeing a new one because her normal clinic is not open today. Please say a prayer, cross your fingers, etc... that it is nothing major. I just feel so uneasy about what they are going to say. Busderpuddle
Took Ruby to a new vet here in town, and I loved him. He checked her over head to tail, listened 4 different times for the heart murmur we were told she has and said she doesn't have it. He also looked at her teeth and said she does not need a dental any time soon. We were told she needed it ASAP and it was scheduled for later this month. He showed me all her teeth one by one and said they look great and she has very minimal tartar. He also is experienced with greyhounds, having trained with them for over 15 years. So.....onto her problem, he thinks she has a swollen and irritated throat. He gave us antibiotics for a week, and some hydrocodone cough syrup to use every 8 hours if needed. He is going to get her labs from the last vet because he is worried about the fact that she has borderline kidney issues. He didn't want to repeat blood work today because she had it in May. He said she should probably be on a low protein diet to make sure her kidneys do not get worse. The best part.............it was only $70 !!!!!! It is $129 to just walk in to my old vet, and the $70 included the Amoxicillin and the cough syrup. My last vet bill was $338. We are definitely switching vets. Thanks for the good wishes everyone Quote Karen
