Guest WhiteWave Posted January 27, 2014 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Casper went to the bridge this morning. His spondalosis has gotten worse and he could no longer walk. In 2 weeks he would have been with me for 9 yrs. He was 8 months old when I got him. I had lost my previous Dogo in November and grieving her and Casper fell into my lap. He was from the same breeder I later found out. He was also born deaf and she was going to euthanize him, but a vet tech as asked for him. She couldn't handle him and turned him over to rescue where I found him on Petfinder. I never in a million years could have found a better Dogo. Casper was never an easy dog, well no Dogo is, but he was a true Dogo. As they say on the breed club, "Coat of white satin, body of steel, heart of gold". Casper was a true embodiment of that. He loved me and his Greyhound brothers with all his heart. He would have died for us. He was always so strong, but today, I had to be strong for him and let him go. I will miss you forever my sweet boy. Ronon with him yesterday Joey with him yesteday, I think they both knew. They rode curled around on the way to the vet this morning. The more they were loved the more they guide us thrrough the years that are to come... until we meet again. Such a loss is almost impossible to take, yet somehow we have it within us to get through the grieving and offer another dog a forever home.
