Guest arlosmom Posted August 18, 2012 Share Posted August 18, 2012 I am afraid this will be all a jumble but here are my thoughts about you old buddy, my Lolo. You were the beautiful quiet boy in the back of your kennel. You never asked for anything but pizza crust and I could count the times you barked in your time with me on one hand. We had many fun times. Friday night dinners with my friends and their pups, Daylie, Winnie and Annie, meet and greets at Petsmart, the Arts festival, Columbus County Museum and festival. Christmas and St. Patricks Day Parades, Beach Bound Hounds, Mayfaire friday nights where you were a hit with all the kids. The list goes on and on. Obedience school, canine good citizen and therapy dog were your accomplishments. Your favorite banana man at the Commons at Brightmore and the visits to the memory care area were your favorites. Chase of cats and fence jumper in your first year with us. Lure courser, greeter of new hounds at playday, you would then go off exploring the perimeter of the woods on your own rather than play with the others. It was obvious that you did not like rowdiness, comflict or fights in that you always ran the other way. A total peacekeeper. You accepted all the dogs that came into our home without a grumble. Never sick until you had thyroid cancer last year, you had all your teeth but one although they were not pretty and broken. You never complained, you slept at the foot of my bed for your last few years of life. Last week we found a bone tumor on your shoulder and we could not control your pain. As I would walk by your bed and think you were asleep you would reach out your paw and grab me by the ankle for rubs and hugs and scratches under the chin. One of your most endearing traits was your scamper dance! A trip to the yard for poop and you would bounce them off the ground like tootsie rolls and then be proud and run back to the deck in a silly, wonkie run dance, the "scamper dance" , spinning around once as you reached the deck. How I will miss you poops and all. It is odd because of your quietness the lack of your presence is not as noticible as those who have gone before you. But when it is really quiet and I go to bed at night and you are not there, that is when I grieve. Rest easy Arlo, and play and scamper at the bridge. You were MY boy and I will love you forever.
