Guest juliagulia630
Met with Dr Couto today. They did bloodwork, xrays, and a fine needle aspiration of the lesion. According to the initial path report and Dr Couto's opinion, the lesion is not osteosarcoma but a hemangiosarcoma. Amputation is curative. We will have the final report in 3 days. We decided to be aggressive since we know James would of wanted it. Plus he is in the best place for treatment. I can't say enough about OSU. There is even a fellow greytalker working the front desk. It is just hard to be driving home with out him. Please keep him your thoughts that he does well in surgery tomorrow and recovery. They are all aware of his crazy reaction on tramadol and fentanyl but Dr Couto thinks he just needs a lower dose. I trust this man... greysmom
If it has to be a cancer then hemangio is probably good news. The surgery will be curative, and though hard to get through initially, you'll have many more years together. Hugs, prayers, and every positive thought for you and James tomorrow! MP_the4pack
I'm glad you're at OSU. I went there twice from NJ. Once for Diamond who had her OS leg amputated and once for Pearl who had her fibrosarcoma spleen removed. They are the best people ever. I did get 6 excellent months with Diamond. She did well as a tripod (at age 12), but my Pearl succombed to her cancer just 3 weeks later. I wish I could win the big lottery because I would love to give Dr. Couto millions for research! Good luck James!!!
packmom
Best of luck today! We've had very good results for hemangiosarcoma when found soon enough.
