3greytjoys
Oh Ducky, I'm sooo deeply sorry about sweet Percy's gut-wrenching diagnosis. I can only hope his hemangiosarcoma might be slower than average to spread. Our most caring thoughts are with Percy, and you all.

tbhounds
Hemangiosarcoma. Located sooooo close to the blood vessel so no surgery. Wait........ What kind? Dermal hemangio??? Not understanding not able to have surgery.
macoduck
Wait........ What kind? Dermal hemangio??? Not understanding not able to have surgery. Yup, dermal. Tracy, it had stopped bleeding but it was hard to define the borders since it had burst. He really took his time examining it and finding just the right area to do the fine needle bx. Because it was no longer raised up it sat right on the saphenous vessel, he had a difficult time just getting it away from the vessel to do the FNB. Cell sample was obvious under microscope. CBC was OK still. We had gone into this planning to schedule a removal of the whole thing, but he was so apologetic when explaining the impossibility of doing that. He believes it not only sits on top of that vessel, but that there is a connection and that the cancer cells have most likely spread. We did not do a chest or abdominal xray and are not considering spleen removal. Should we think that a lesion has burst in the spleen (or elsewhere if it's spread further), we will not let him suffer. We know this can happen quickly and with little warning. We will watch Percy very closely and totally spoil him. For now he is eating, drinking, peeing, pooping well, and most importantly, playing like crazy with his screaming monkey. 3greytjoys
If the infection is eliminated and the wound happens to begin bleeding again, I wonder if your vet mentioned possibly trying a hemostatic gelatin, fibrin glue or thrombin, etc.? Perhaps not the best option available(??), but we keep Clotisol topical blood clotting solution at home to help stop other minor wounds from bleeding excessively. (I would not use Clotisol on a known dermal hemangiosarcoma wound.) I'm hoping Percy will be our beloved hound's fellow long-lived miracle twin! (Big time Percy fan here since he found his way into your family. )

May I suggest daily massages on the foot below the bump.....I lost Kasey because of lack of circulation to his leg. I'm so sorry to hear this about Percy.
