Opals_mom Posted September 10, 2014 Share Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) Yesterday I let my sweet girl with bunny-soft ears go. We spent the previous evening together and her eyes told me she was tired of hurting. She had pork and whipped cream and a LOT of wet food for dinner and then home made breakfast sausage for breakfast. I know that I did the right thing but right now I feel so horrible and guilty for not demanding more of the vet staff ahead of time to help calm you down. Also the vet that administered the medication said some things I NEVER wanted to hear as she was pushing the plunger. It's still so fresh that the time at the vet is foremost in my mind and I'm mad at myself but looking through pictures is making me laugh already First day home with a bone - weirdo. She stayed in the very back of the kennel for a few days Wearing jammies from my first greyhound Opal, who was apparently quite a bit smaller The ONLY roach I ever saw out of her and I put her that way... and then continued to laugh for a while She welcomed her sister Missy and was taught how to be a dog - they loved each other Early on I was not allowed to watch her play - as soon as she saw me she would stop so I was forced to video through the laundry room window. It's so painful to let them go no matter what the circumstances, but this must have been especially difficult with this vet. I have every day video's of dinner time and her being a bossy-pants and mundane things. You will cherish the everyday times Granted video now-days is SO much easier to take than it was 10 years ago. I have been having a fun time remembering all the funny things she did. Our supermutt got blamed for EVERYTHING because Eden was so sweet and perfect. One day we made dinner and DH went to get a drink from the fridge and said to Missy "you come with me - I don't trust you." We walked into the kitchen and heard a faint "clink clink" and looked at each other like I walked into the living room to see DH's dinner plate minus the chicken and a skinny dog slinking to her room. I said "Eden" and she turner her head around with the chicken ever-so-daintily held in her front teeth... that she proceeded to dropp and went to her bed like We also had two beds stacked in their room and I was vacuuming one day and took the top one off to find a bunch of DH's used PT socks my slippers and our remote control... Apparently those tasted yummy because it was her favorite - even at friends houses. I got home from work on day and went to say Hi to her in her room, DH had company, I got in there and laughed. I said "DH, come in here" and pointed between her beds where there was about .5" of a 20-dollar bill hanging out. He said he thought I had taken his money but she was apparently stashing it away - probably for another remote She didn't tear it or anything - just tried to hide it.
