I am just wondering if anyone has any experience with a dog having an eye removed, I know it will look pretty gruesome to start with. Any advice or tips for recovery from first hand experience would be great.

One of my Greys had calcification of almost all of the toe joints, initially they were painful but soon recovered and the vet told me not to worry as it would actually stabilise the joint. He never had any further problems so I can only assume he was correct. Btw. I initially took him to the vet as he had a lump on one toe and was quite lame. He ended up with the ugliest looking feet, but no pain

My boy Johnny does exactly the same, I have had him just over a year and despite doing lots of research and asking vets etc I can find no reason for it. If your girl is otherwise healthy I would not be too concerned.

Another vote for "looks just fine to me", he is well covered, not fat and certainly not obese, he clearly gets plenty of exercise and it doesn't sound like he's eating everything in sight. My current boy Johnny gained 10lbs in his first year with me, he wasn't thin when I got him, and he's certainly not fat now. Keep up the good work

I don't know if you have ever seen your dog catch live prey, if you have not then you cannot truly understand the intensity of a dog in " kill" mode.... This may be distasteful to many here but there is a raft of difference between the aggression we witness in "play" and the "real" thing.....as I said before, the vast majority of the time our dogs mean us no harm, we just have to learn to read them, it is like a dance,

When I read topics like this I so wish that I had videoed Miss Sadi having one of her nightly "Grumble sessions" with DH, the body language said she was about to rip him to pieces....she never did, it was just fun. What I am trying to say is that although many of the replies have given helpful clues as to the difference between smiling and snarling, but the only way you really know is if you know your dog/s.....this is obviously tricky to gauge if your dog is new to you, so I would just say always be careful, but don't let it stop you interacting with your dog, mostly they mean us no harm at all but as we don't speak the same language sometimes things get lost in translation. Follow your gut feeling and don't be too upset if sometimes there are misunderstandings.

Johnny has done that a couple of times when he has got very warm and drank a lot of water, it scared me a bit watching him peeing for literally five minutes, but he was ok afterwards too. In the warm summer months I was adding a little milk to his water to persuade him to drink so he didn't get dehydrated, I don't think I need to worry this summer. Btw. Despite Johnny's love of frozen vegetables and bones, he won't eat ice cubes, but angel Sadi loved them

Is he really that big? His racing weight is recorded at 33kgs which isn't massive, Johnny was that weight when he came to me and he's the smallest (as in height) Grey of the four I have had. He looks lovely His mother is a half sister to my boy Johnny, also a droopys dog. As for names what about Guiness or Mackeson, Mack for short? I hope the trial goes well, seems pretty good so far.
