Surely he was meant to be with you and your DH, because I don't think anyone would have had the love and strength and patience, and absolute tenacity that you had to make his life as long and healthy as you possibly could. Her specialist acknowledged after her last blood test that he was surprised she was still here. Trust, and patience and being willing to take a chance works.
