TheFullHouse Posted September 17, 2013 Share Posted September 17, 2013 (edited) Mike and I first met Bebe in the adoption kennel. She was so shy and was going to be a hard placement. Luckily she met a special woman who would take her home. Trish and Bebe were a pair. They adored each other. When Trish passed away suddenly from a brain aneurism, Bebe came to stay with us while her dad made all the arrangements for her mom. Eventually her dad decided Bebe was too unhappy at home and asked if we could find another home for her because he didn't want her to have to go back to the kennel. Well that's all he had to say. Bebe wasn't going anywhere. She knew us and she was going to stay with us. She was terrified of thunder storms and was very shy around strangers. Not quite a spook but not the outgoing greyhound most of us adopt. She eventually settled in with us and became part of our big pack. She drew strength and confidence from our crew and soon Bebe was going up to visitors like she was one of the gang. What a transformation she made. She had been really picky lately about her food and after a vet visit, which showed she was really healthy I decided to try something new. I added Wellness Beef Stew to her food. The last 4 days she was eating everything and not even leaving little bits on her bed like she usually did. She was playing and having a good time. This morning I had to take two of the other dogs to the vet and when I got home she came running at me, went into the back yard and ran some laps with the other dogs and then came in to have me rub her ears. I gave out the afternoon meds and all the dogs got fish oil, which she loves and she got her probiotic in a pill pocket (which she absolutely loved). I turned around to do some other things and she went down. As I rode to the vet laying in the back of the car, my little girl was slipping away from me. I could tell it was massive, whatever had happened and knew I was going to have to say goodbye to her. The vet and several of her staff came in right away, Bebe was a limp noodle at this point and I noticed her tongue had turned purple and I knew right there that we would be saying goodbye. The vet agreed with me and as sat on the floor stroking her beautiful head, she quietly slipped away. Goodbye my precious little girl. I loved you more than you will ever know. I know for sure that Trish was waiting for you with open arms. Run free my angel.
