  1. Thanks Tricia. Now that fall is sort of beginning here, I will enjoy it a lot more. The snow birds should be arriving before too long.
  2. I've been a long time member of GreyTalk, but it's been a while since I've posted anything. Smokey and I recently moved from Kansas to Tucson, Arizona. There are several greyhound groups here, but we haven't managed to get involved in anything yet. We did go to one Meet & Greet, just so Smokey could see some of his kind. I think he really misses seeing his buddies, as do I I can't remember how to upload photos so they won't be too large.
  3. Mary Jo, I remember Sadie and Spud very well. I think of you from time to time and had wondered how you all are doing. I'm so sorry about the passing of Sadie. She had a wonderful life with you.
  4. Tricia, I haven't been on GT much since Christmas, and am just now seeing this. My heart sank when I read that you had lost Murray. He was so lucky to have landed with you and Burke. Your tribute was so special, and I will miss seeing pictures of your beautiful boy. You, Burke and Holly will be in my thoughts and prayers.
  5. This is such sad news. I was one of the ones that helped get this litter of pups from Tiffany Hester and her mom. They picked them up in western Kansas and drove to Wichita, then several of us drove on to Kansas City for the next leg of their journey. I took tons of pictures, and just spent a half hour looking for them - but can't find them. They were all so precious, but Lulu was my favorite. I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful color in a greyhound. Thanks so much for giving her a good home. I've always wondered how the others turned out. Also, congratulations on your new baby. She's a doll.
  6. If you are on FaceBook, go to a group called "The touch of sight" (the words touch and sight are not capitalized). This is about a sweet little whippet called Kk who had both eyes removed about six months ago. She and her mom live in England, I think. I'm sure she would answer any questions you have about having an eye removed. Be prepared to fall in love with Kk!!! She's amazing. Be sure and look at some of the videos her mom has posted. Also, one of my friends had an eye removed from a young male gh a year or so ago, and he's doing great. I don't think she's on GT or FB, but I can ask her any questions you might have.
  7. Jay, he had T4, Free T4 and TSH. One of my greyhound friends is a vet (they have at least 10 currently) and I shared the results with her yesterday. He definitely needs to be on meds. What changes can I expect in him?
  8. What can you all tell me (or refer me to reading material) about hypothroidism in greyhounds? Smokey has had blood work and will likely be on medication. His hair loss has been rapid, but otherwise doesn't show any symptons. He's only four, so I hope the medication will help him.
  9. Mary, I'm glad you gave Vonnie a home. She is one lucky girl. I'm sorry I didn't make it to the gathering this year to see you. What are your plans for next year?
  10. Thanks Ducky. This is always a sad post. Could you add two of my girls please? I lost GiGi in June and Tivvy in November.
  11. Susan, George was one of my favorite GT hounds and I want to thank you so much for sharing him with us. He will be missed by many. Hugs to you and the kitties.
  12. Pam, I'm so sorry Poodle had to leave. He was such a character, and whenever I think of him, I see him with the wild colored Mohawk! When you feel like it, can you share that picture with us again? Hugs.
  13. Sadi was a beautiful girl, and I'm so glad you were able to retreive your pictures. I'm paranoid about that and have mine backed up in several places. If I were smart I would have prints made of all my favorites too, but haven't done that yet.
  14. Welcome from Kansas! I used to live in Shreveport - love your state!!! You'll love this site. I look forward to seeing more pictures of your gorgeous Dante. Black greyhounds rock!
  15. Diamond, you go girl!! I'm glad your mom and dad are breathing a little easier now that you're figuring out what your new normal is. Keep it up!
  16. Valerie, I'm so sorry to hear this. Please keep up posted about Diamond. Your friends here in Kansas will be sending prayers, white light and anything else we can throw your way.
  17. Hope you feel better Biggie. My Tivvy sends her sympathy. She had five teeth pulled several weeks ago, leaving her with seven!
  18. Steve, I'm so sorry Sadie had to go. She and Katie were two of my favorite greys and I loved seeing the pictures you posted of them. Hugs to you and your family.
  19. We've all done stuff like that. You're a newbie here, so probably don't know about the "olives". Do a search on that and sit back and have a good laugh reading.
  20. I have no advice for you, but will keep Jaynie and you in my thoughts and prayers. Those long greyhound toes can really cause problems from time to time!
  21. Hi and welcome from Kansas! Manny is very handsome! I look forward to seeing more pictures.
  22. A walk-in shower will probably make a world of difference for your pup. I would still put a mat down too. Also, be sure and have the water at a mild temperature. Too hot and they tend to sort of collapse.
  23. Do you have a non-slip mat in your tub? If not, that could contribute to her nervousness. Mine don't like baths either, but fortunately I have a walk in shower too. Our doberman used to love baths. All we had to do was call "Bathies" and she would run upstairs, hop into the tub and stay there till we were finished. So funny.
  24. Try looking in the fridge! No kidding. I've put some strange things in mine.
  25. I started my girls on it a few weeks ago. They had a sale, so I stocked up. I think there is something in them that doesn't agree with Gabby though. I've tried giving her one three different times and she's thrown up every time. I give them one with their food, so it wasn't on an empty stomach. The others have had no problems though, and love them! Two of my girls are seniors, so am hoping it will help them as they age.
