That beautiful girl fought such a good fight, as did you, always right there by her side. Ember really did know how very much she was loved. God speed beautiful girl and run now with all the angels. She stayed as long as she needed to (not as long as you wanted her to) and she went on surrounded by love. May we all be so blessed. I too had to make the decision to put a greyhound to sleep on seeing an x-ray of her lungs full of tumours, and it is a very hard thing to do, but for me there was no real decision to make. As you know yourself, the choice was between letting her go or keeping her going until she was miserable. Susan had begun coughing too, and also looking rather short of breath even while resting, but in her case, it was not osteo but kidney cancer. I remember standing there as the specialist put the x-ray up on the viewer and taking one look and just breaking up. I managed to choke out 'Oh, poor Susan ... ' and then I could only cry. I can't watch the video right now, it's too soon after Renie left us and I cry at the drop of a hat. But I do feel for you. I know the pain, believe me. Many hugs to you. It was quite an emotional journey just for us on lookers, I am in awe of your strength through it all. I was used to checking the Ember cam at least once a day and will miss seeing that lovely tripod. Your love and the doctors skills gave you many more months with her. I'm truly sorry that the cancer was still waiting to take her, but rejoice in knowing that you let her go without a lot of suffering, to be free to run with the others waiting at the bridge. You and Ember took on a huge battle with the dreaded disease. She fought hard as did you in keeping her happy and living life to the fullest possible.
