  1. I was dumb, I got bitten before I learned. Don't make my mistake, take Ducky's advice. Johnny is fine snuggling on the couch, but he doesn't even try to get in bed with me anymore.
  2. Yes, there are wraps for male dogs, "mandage" is the slang term. You can get ones that you put a human incontinence pad in, or you can get the disposable ones in any pet store.
  3. That's great! My personal acupuncturist has done wonders for my migraines. Trying to convince him to get pet-certified too.
  4. Oh my Lucy, I knew it was bad...hugs to you and the entire gang.
  5. That's great! Of course, there are people here who can tell you all about managing kidney disease.
  6. Icthammol is black and stinky and will stain, so use with caution! It's good for drawing out skin ickies too. If you can't get the sticky stuff off, try a little baby oil.
  7. Could the "bad" cushion be in a draft? Would a pair of PJs help?
  8. I used it in my Lab, she was approximately 75-80 and took the human dose of one per day.
  9. I have a cat with mast cell. We did Palladia oral chemo for a while after surgery to remove the mass in his intestine, but it was not effective. We have been managing it with an every-other-day dose of cyproheptadine, which you can get from a human pharmacy and is relatively inexpensive.
  10. Jan, the more I hear about Camp Greyhound, the more my eyes leak.
  11. Both my Lab (across the Bridge) and Johnny only get on hotel/motel beds, never at home! My Lab would always check out the bathtub first and lick the soap. Dogs are weird!
  12. Congrats and welcome Jag! Only 3 more and you'll have Camp Greyhound Florida.
  13. If she can have a peanut butter sandwich, you can hide it in there. Johnny takes Trifexis, which smells awful, and won't take it straight or mixed in his food, so I crush it up and put in the sandwich.
  14. Yep, eat, sleep, p&p, sleep some more (roached, of course!). It's a dog's life.
  15. Dr. Robin, I'm so sorry. I know you have tried your darndest to give Reagan the best life possible.
  16. Allen, we wish you all the best. You are in the best of hands.
  17. He is, but of course once we get there, he knows and some yo-yo is always running some kind of machinery all the time in our town! I'll look into the animal ones, since this is something the vet want to monitor, it wouldn't be a one time reading. My plan is to take and record daily readings, preferably in the evenings when we're just hanging out.
  18. At Johnny's last checkup, his blood pressure was elevated and the vet wants to monitor it. However, I believe it was up partially due to the "white coat effect" and would like to try to take it at home. How does one do this--what's the technique? Can a human monitor be used? Thanks!
  19. It shouldn't--the oil is absorbed into the skin then spread through the skin and coat over time. The manufacturer usually advises a 2-3 day waiting period and using mild shampoo, like for puppies.
  20. Yes, unlike horse racing, artificial insemination is allowed. Since Gable Dodge was such a great racer, and has produced great offspring (my boy included ), they keep using him.
  21. The main problem here in the US is that fleas are becoming resistant to Frontline. We use Trifexis, which is a pill that covers fleas and worms too. For added protection, he wears a Seresto collar from spring to fall.
  22. I liked this one for my Black Lab: http://www.carealotpets.com/Products/Bio-Groom-Ultra-Black-Shampoo__2356e.aspx
  23. Johnny is a big boy, 75+, he loves to roach! He can't do it in the car like Sweep, his soft crate isn't big enough.
