  1. Sorry, me and my pets are a package deal! What a yutz! There are a LOT of single women on this board, many of us with multiple pets. And contrary to popular belief, pets can and do adjust to moving around, three of my cats have lived in three states after LONG moves, they adjusted just fine. Johnny is great in elevators, his foster dad lived in a building with one. Ironically, my Lab who was a trained sniffer dog and guide dog flunkout HATED them. Go figure.
  2. OMG Cindy, my heart is breaking for you. Hope Fancy (and Maggie!) are OK and you can figure this out.
  3. I try to avoid anything beef for Johnny, he gets terrible gas from it.
  4. Give it time, my cats were split between "meh" and "aaaahhhDOG"!!
  5. Kristie, great post, as always! Are any of the drugs listed NOT approved for use in the US?
  6. Johnny will get the urge to dig in our little dog park, a few quick strokes, a big sniff, then he's done. Occasionally he'll continue the work another dog started. He does like to scrape away the mulch from another dogs pee spot, then (mostly) pee on top of it.
  7. They don't call it "permanent woe face" for nothing! Comparing Johnny's expressions to my Lab's, you'd think he needed a Prozac! He could have the best day ever, and still sit on his bed looking like he lost his best friend.
  8. Mounting can be a dominance issue, females do it too. "Pee on your pee" is Johnny's favorite game, doesn't matter whose.
  9. Johnny skips breakfast if he hears scary noises outside in the morning. We're working on it!
  10. macoduck's had some experience with this, I believe.
  11. Johnny is "meh" about my couch. He'll get up there on his own terms, sometimes curling up on one end, sometimes getting halfway on my lap and then flopping up there. He prefers his beds or the floor. But! My parents have a super comfy loveseat, he barely gets off it the whole time we are there!
  12. https://www.capcvet.org/articles/heartworm-disease-and-lyme-disease-are-forecasted-to-be-highly-problematic-in-2017/ They have several others for Ehrlichia and Anaplasma, too.
  13. I've boarded Johnny three times, he did excellent. I made sure to emphasize to the kennel that he needs his own space and solitary play. Fortunately the staff was familiar with greyhounds, too.
  14. My Johnny likes a good nature walk, too. We'll be going to the Smokies for a weekend, so I hope he'll do well on a mountain trail. I have four indoor cats, and my mom has a bunch. He's done really well with them, he was listed as "cats maybe", and it only took a couple of corrections from me and nose swats from the cats to get him in line . He will tell the cats off if they try to invade his personal space, but will let them eat from his bowl. However, he will go for outdoors cats, he still hasn't learned they aren't prey.
  15. My Johnny has lunged-snapped at me in the past--he does not like to be messed with laying down, learned that the hard way! One time I was trying to measure him for a collar, he air snapped and growled, I immediately separated myself from him. He's very sensitive in his neck and throat, so I think that set him off that time. So could it be that your doesn't like to be bothered when laying or sitting, or that he is sensitive somewhere?
