  1. If you need a specialist, my Mom has used this clinic: http://www.vrccvet.com/ It's a bit of drive outside of Richmond, but worth it.
  2. Welcome Bisbee and welcome back DosTacos! Very sorry to hear of Conrad's passing.
  3. Oh yes, we are on year round preventative here. Frontline and its successors have been a godsend for us in the South. Don't forget to sweep and vacuum (hoovering, is that still used?), and launder your bed too, they like to hide there. Also, spray the garden if you have one. Good luck, I feel your pain and Peggy's itchies.
  4. I got the Sentry version, since I wasn't sure Johnny would tolerate brushing by me. It's poultry/chicken, enzymatic, and I have noticed a difference already in breath, gum inflammation, and eating much, much better.
  5. Tell hubby that Johnny and four cats have peacefully coexisted for almost three years now. Some dogs will learn from a sharp clawed smack, some just don't care. Good luck with the new guy!
  6. We miss him too in da Club. A life well lived is the best legacy.
  7. Good for you! Positive, bonding experiences for all.
  8. It happens! Separating and muzzles and consult a certified behaviorist.
  9. Heartworm is NOT to be taken lightly. Use the proven, effective, safe preventatives, they are worth the money.
  10. Yes, I agree! My girl kitties, one tortie and one brown tabby, seem to be the most fearless when it comes to dogs. One good whap and Johhny knew exactly where he stood. Although the tortie does rub around his legs when she gets a chance!
  11. I hope you are ready to hustle, Nana Hada! And Ducky, you are gonna hafta bring a brochure for her, cos everyone is going to want one after they see her!
  12. Knee-high stocking or the leg of a sock maybe? Or he has to wear a cone or muzzle while it heals?
  13. Oh Pam, is there any where you can go for a few days, til they arrest that cretin? I am very worried for you.
  14. My Labrador had the tieback surgery at the age of 12 after a crisis episode. I can say that it did help her breathing and quality of life for the next two years, but I think it exacerbated her rear end weakness, which was already compromised due to spinal and hip arthritis. She more and more lost continence and developed UTI after UTI, even though her brain and demeanor was still upbeat and Lab-happy. I wish we could have had a diagnosis sooner, and been able to try medication first.
  15. Every time I see a beautiful white houndie, I think of the lovely Sir Snowy.
  16. Yes, vet visit first. He may need a low dose of Prozac to help his anxiety. BUT--GTer George of New England had a boy who NEVER broke the habit, if I recall correctly. A belly band or "mandage" will save your couch in the long run.
  17. I used to live in Memphis, parents in central Virginia, I hear ya! Room to share is still available for anyone interested. I'm not on FB, so contact me here.
  18. I still have room to share, arriving late Thursday and leaving Sunday. You can have any or all days.
  19. I agree with Chris (greysmom). There is a "heart-healer" out there when you are ready.
  20. Learn from me--get her used to own bed now. I got bitten. Get her an array of comfy beds, placed out of the way of your path to the door/bathroom.
  21. Congrats! I think scars add to their beauty. She sounds like a beautiful brindle.
  22. I have a Room at the Sidney James and am willing to share!! Two queens and a sleeper sofa. PM if you are interested!! I am coming late Thursday and leaving Sunday. We can split all or some. Same conditions apply. THANKS!!
