  1. Great news, those old broodies are tough.
  2. Maybe if you complain to Trader Jodes about the misinformation, they might give you a gift card or something. Worth a try!
  3. Yeah, that's weird--Johnny can eat his chicken formula food no problem, I gave him a little fried chicken skin once and we were up all nite with the poops!
  4. Johnny gets these peely/dandruffy spots under his armpits. Could that be what they are seeing.
  5. Do the skin pinch test--is she truly dehydrated? She may not be drinking due to her upset tummy. Just FYI, it's hot-hot here, and Johnny doesn't drink like my Lab would, even after a good walk.
  6. I don't know about dogs, but they found my cat's mast cell in his intestines by ultrasound first, and then got the definitive diagnosis via biopsy after surgery.
  7. Is it hot where you're at? Some dogs don't like eating when it's hot.
  8. Johnny has no problem making these and Greenies disappear in record time (he gets large ones!). We've also done Minities and Whimzees (the big toothbrush shaped ones take a little longer due to their size and hardness).
  9. I think 1 per day is the dose, it's what I've used in the past. Maybe some mashed potatoes, plain?
  10. Oh yeah, small squeaky things--Johnny is obsessed with them when we go to Petsmart/Petco, both the birds and small mammals. He grabbed my mom's cockatiel by the tail feathers thru the cage, fortunately no harm done! But he does want to visit with the bird when we go over there .
  11. OMG I LOL'd, sorry! Years ago we had a Golden who ate about a half dozen raw yeast rolls that were rising !
  12. Better a Victoria Sponge than a real one! Johnny has been good about staying out of the kitchen, but he does like to eat cicadas outside.
  13. Johnny's trigger is beef, I try to avoid it as much as possible.
  14. The consensus seems to be "get the most petite girl hound, they have the biggest WOOF!" Johnny is a greeter when strangers come over, got to get those face licks in!
  15. My Labrador had a deeper woof than Johnny does. His has a slight up pitch to it. He only barks at other dogs, and then very rarely.
  16. Dollar Tree--Cheap, multicolored, all bristle types. Also, you could wrap a colored rubber band around the handle of each one.
  17. Aww, what a cutie! For sure, there are some that love their crate, and some that hate it, and some that only get in one to go for a ride (mine!). Whatever works best for you and your hound.
  18. I have a little clip-on ring that lets me move the tags from one martingale to another, it's a good investment (since we all know you can't have just one collar! )
  19. I've had a Lab and a Golden--yep, they are great dogs, but be prepared to put in time and energy every day into training and exercise. My Lab was a working dog, she didn't want to quit even when I was done, and she could pull me off my feet when there was something she wanted to get to (like the next search!) It took a lot of time to get her to stop picking up stuff from the ground, and FOCUS. She really didn't slow down until she got really old--she didn't let the fact that she had arthritis and LP keep her from BALL!!
  20. Sorry, me and my pets are a package deal! What a yutz! There are a LOT of single women on this board, many of us with multiple pets. And contrary to popular belief, pets can and do adjust to moving around, three of my cats have lived in three states after LONG moves, they adjusted just fine. Johnny is great in elevators, his foster dad lived in a building with one. Ironically, my Lab who was a trained sniffer dog and guide dog flunkout HATED them. Go figure.
