  1. I have three cats and two greys now--they all get along inside the house. But OH BOY, when we are out walking, that's a whole different story. They both want to go meet that cat (or possum, or with Fuzzy, THAT SQUIRREL!!), so I have to say in the VOG "NO CAT" and pull them along and keep walking. Fuzzy's squirrel obsession takes the form of statuing and staring--I got her a harness and it is a lot easier to get her moving with that opposed to the martingale. I say "let's go" or "keep walking" in a happy tone. She is doing a LOT better than when I first got her, she did a backflip on leash trying to get a squirrel out of a tree!
  2. I have two cats who have FLUTD--they are on a special diet for that. My vet has kept them on the diet and it has kept them both relatively free of problems. My tortie had a slight setback during a time of high stress, so definitely that can be trigger. I know its pricey to have prescription diets (and mine refuse to eat anything other than Purina ST/OX!), but in the long run, he'll be happier and crystal free!
  3. I'm in! Greyhound people are probably the easiest to shop for.
  4. You know, I noticed that with Gino, his sire is Irish. Johnny was very long and lean, very sinuous, tall and muscular. Gino is a little chunkier, not quite as defined. Fuzzy is, of course, very fine boned and lean, but tall as Gino at the head when they both stare out the window.
  5. Gino is always ready to celebrate! Nothing like a shiny black coat.
  6. With cats, and especially ones that are part of a trap-neuter-return, they can do it as early as eight weeks! Of course, every pet is different, so work with your vet.
  7. Thanks Dick! We live in a condo, so walks are quite interesting, to say the least! She leaves my cats alone, but outside, of course, is a different story.
  8. Hi Dick, what can you tell me about my new girl, BGR Fuzzy Navel? She is a sweetheart, but needs to leave the squirrels alone! Thanks!
  9. I'm always calling some pet by another's name! Do they try to open the door? Johnny was always trying to make the Great Escape.
  10. I'm a singleton, too. Right now I have Gino, who has some SA. I find he does WORSE if I come home and then leave again. He is convinced I'm going to leave him permanantly and goes on a destructive spree after barking his head off. My Johnny was an only until I got Gino, he had a few problems, mostly related to noise outside rather than being alone.
  11. Sweep, you are a gorgeous girl, no matter how you lay!
  12. "Tea" is British English for the late day meal, dinner or supper to others.
  13. Haha! Those crazy black greys, I have a trash attackker too! Newspaper is his favorite, tho. My cat Archie hadn't attacked a loaf of bread in a good long while--until I brought home that Artesano bread!
  14. HEY!! Who out there is coming to BBH? It's September 26-29 in beautiful Myrtle Beach, SC, hosted by Greyhound Crossroads! We'll be there Thursday night, in time for bingo!
  15. Johnny had this--the cats would come up, sniff his feet, or face, get snarked at (but he wouldn't step on the cat if they were ON the bed, go figure). My current boy Gino is a little more touchy, he will jump up and snark and bark. The cats must learn that the bed is sacred for the greys. Keep using the muzzle until you feel confident that everyone has learned their place. Some cats, it does take an incident to learn better. Gino protects his food bowl from the cats, but not from me. My two girls have learned well. My boy, Archie, had to learn the hard way and is healing a broken foreleg right now. Do I blame Gino? No, because Archie did not learn from the prior snarks and barks, and Mom's scolding him.
  16. Sometimes I score at Tuesday Morning. Ours is right next to PetSmart, too.
  17. Thanks everyone, such beautiful pics and words! Johnny loved to roach, anytime, almost anywhere--he never got the hang of it in the car a la Sweep. Teeth hanging out, such an active dreamer he woke himself up multiple times. He stole all the beds and couches he could. But if the cats got there first, I would get the biggest, saddest eyes; he would NOT evict the cat himself. I won't say Johnny was all sweetness and light, he had the SNARK and knew how to use it. People, dogs, cats, if you were rude, he told you so. I was on the receiving end, too. If he felt Gino was laying too close to him, not even touching, it would come out. Or on a road trip, it was from BOTH "MOM HE'S TOUCHING ME! MOM HE'S BREATHING ON ME!". But those two boys could walk together, sniff the same pee mail, get wrapped up around my legs, and I wouldn't hear a word.
  18. Hey everyone, to avoid highjacking Dick's threads any longer , let's talk Gable Dodge and all his descendants! If you have a sibling, offspring, or just an appreciation, please share. Pictures, remembories, love, share it here! I'll start--my beloved Johnny was a son, he had that "famous face" that I can see in a lot of other offspring. Beautiful red fawn coat, deep soulful brown eyes, little white tips on the tail and toesies. The only sabling he had were some dark hairs on his ears and tail. And he would carry that bottle-brush tail in a hook, canted to the side, that you can see on Gable Dodge in a video on YouTube. Johnny loved people, a true love-bug kissy boy. My new boy, Gino-Gene-Eugene (Eastnor Rebel), has GD on his dam side via Lonesome Cry. He's a beautiful shiny black boy with white and with ears that go all the time. I've noticed he does cant his tail to one side, too. He's a happy goofball that I am working with to get his anxiety and shyness under control.
  19. Lol, Johnny loved to lay in front of the sliding door in the afternoon sun. He was a world class roacher, too.
  20. My crew is so used to Johnny's reactions (he was all "meh" most of the time), they get a BIG SHOCK when Gino gives them the gobble-snark for messing with him at rest or with his food/treats. Can't tell them ANYTHING.
  21. My sweet Johnny, who passed unexpectedly in June, was a Gable Dodge boy, I loved it when he did the ear-flip forward like your boy! They both had the beautiful dark eyeliner, too. My other boy, Gino (Eastnor Rebel), has Gable Dodge via his dam, she has Lonesome Cry back there.
  22. Ruby, you and Johnny are up there spinning together.
