  1. Never would have guessed brindle! Fuzz is red fawn, like my late boy Johnny. I can see the sleeping resemblance
  2. Hmm, should I look into getting a third??
  3. Just saw this! I was going to maybe change her name, but the girls at the vet's office love her name, so Fuzzy she is! Mizz Fuzz, Fuzz-Fuzz, Fuzzy-britches...whatever sounds great. She's a sweet girl, sleeps where she wants, tries to play with the cats and chase squirrels. I have another grey, Gino (Eugene or Gene or G, registered Eastnor Rebel). They are distant cousins, but I'd love to have littermates!
  4. It was probably a matter of paperwork and understaffing, two of the greatest weaknesses of the agency I work for. The food is probably if the flight gets delayed. Most products of animal origin cannot be imported without prior notice, it's a result of the Bioterrorism legislation passed after 9/11. My Gino has an Irish sire, he is not as long and lean as my Johnny was. After a year with me, his bum is nice and hairy, too.
  5. K9 Sasha used to bark-bark at motorcycles, she was so funny getting all riled up in the truck when one passed us on the highway.
  6. Those big lugs just worm their way into your hearts and don't let go.
  7. Bless you for taking him, I too took a biter/resource guarder after he was bounced. He is super handsome and I wish you both the best.
  8. Saw this ad in the back of last year's Farmer's Almanac: slipcovershop.com It looks like they can make a cover for your bed, any size or style. I tried pricing out a new zippered cover for the x-large Foster & Smith round slumberball, I got about $110 for what looks to be a synthetic suede, I don't think it's real suede for that price. Lots of measuring to do, but it seems that they'll work with you to get the cover just right. I suppose you could slip it over the existing bed whole hog, or get a cover and stuff it up how you want.
  9. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus A terrible, awful bacteria. Resistant to a lot of antibiotics. Nope, Honey does not expire! Due to its low moisture and pH. If it's in glass, it should last forever, although it may crystallize.
  10. I wonder if it will smell (and taste!) as bad as the Trifexis pill, I switched to Advantage Multi as he got to the point he wouldn't take it--even in a delicious PB&Cheese sandwich.
  11. A good warm place to lay is just the ticket! I have to take them both, G would destroy the house without his beloved Fuzzy. He lays his head on her back all the time. He fusses and worries when they take her to the back. And yes, they are both SO EXCITED to see everyone, kisses and noses all around.
  12. I just . Standard Poodles I'm okay with, it's those mixes that get me.
  13. I had a big black Lab, I think they are better than yellow or chocolates. Every Chocolate Lab I've met has been a little on the dumb side.
  14. I spoke with GTer jimsherriek, she is in Houston and it sounds like they are planning for the future. Reach out to her, she is a great person. GALTX, I've seen they have lurchers, too--some have been found loose and brought to them by Animal Control. NO BLACKS, NO BOYS????? Are you kidding me? Coat color has nothing to do with tempermant, there are some ignoramuses out there. And I had never had a boy before Johnny (my mom's preference)--I'm not saying he was perfect, but we clicked and he was such a joy. Gino is both, he does have some issues due to being a "beta" boy and SA, but we are working on it every day and he is a goofball and loves his sister. I think in the future, I may try to get a galgo or a small podenco like Ducky has. I'll always keep my heart and door open for sighthounds of any stripe.
  15. OMG, the first time I gave Gino some lamb & rice canned dog food, I thought he was going to flip out. Johnny snarfed it down, I had to coax G out of the bedroom--and he is not one to ever turn down food. CANNED LAMB, who'd've thunk it??
  16. Johnny hated the noise of small engines--lawn equipment, tractors, my mom's generator. Shivering, quivering mess. Working K9 Sasha hated bicycles, moving or still. One time I could NOT get her to search a car due to bike on the rear rack. Occasionally old people with walkers or wheelchairs.
  17. I lost my beautiful Johnny very suddenly in June, he was coming up on 8. He had some hind end weakness, some episodes of hard breathing after roaching, had seen the vet only a couple of weeks prior--best guess is cardiac or a splenic tumor. The ladies who run the kennel he and Gino were staying at described almost the same thing, just dropped and there was nothing they could do (they are all trained vet techs and loved him very much). It's still so hard, I second guess myself every day and miss him so much.
  18. Yes, I have this one, too. Fuzzy is a statuer, gotta stare at those squirrels! And then sometimes she tries to jump and grab them, it's better than choking herself on the martingale. The only disadvantage is that she will clothesline Gino with her leash and then I have to untangle them.
  19. Is that a little Roman Nose I see in there??
  20. My mom got quite the surprise the first time Johnny put his nose on the counter while she was cooking.
  21. Oh, I'd love to see him, too! Johnny was around 80, he was long and tall and sleek. Gino is about 70-75, he is not as tall, maybe as long, but much more "built"; his sire was an Irish greyhound.
