  1. I've been there! Momma and I went up Molly's Knob when we were a bit younger. I don't think I could drag my two up nowadays. My Momma's mom did wear combat boots, she was a British Army nurse during the war. LOL
  2. WHEEE! we are looking forward to seeing everyone and spending lots of money
  3. it was something like that, I stay logged in, but this morning I was logged out and when I put my password in, I got an error message. I was logged in at work and on my Chromebook when I got home.
  4. yeah, got this message this morning on my new Chromebook, but no problem this afternoon. Weird..
  5. My girl Fuzzy is a plastics chewer, even though she has lots of stuffies. She's picked up a few clothing items and taken them to her "nest". Having had a cat with pica, I know the only solution is to keep things out of reach. Also--look into galgo adoption. Multiple people here have both, from what I can tell, they are awesome, too.
  6. I apologize, I was having a heck of time just posting brief messages while my at my Mom's house! Eugene looks superb in his new coat! It fits him just right. He was wearing Johnny's old coat, but it's too big for him and he pees on the band. Now to have some cold weather... He and Fuzzy are sharing the treats and stuffies. He is such a chowhound, I have to carefully dole out treats so he doesn't gobble his and everyone else's (including the cats). Thanks so much Irene, Odin, and Shine!
  7. You're welcome! Fuzzy has squeaked all the toys and is now chillaxing from her package.
  8. Irene, we are glad it made it! We are waiting till Xmas! I signed both due to having a brain fart!
  9. Yes, Gino is our timekeeper! Time to get up, time for outs, time for dinner, time for snax...
  10. Snitches get Stiches, elves! We know you creepy guys are in league with that Elf on the Shelf... good job Amelia!
  11. I have a anxious destroyer--his last time was when I went out with my mom, leaving him with his sister at my Mom's house. He got his muzzle off, tore up a venetian blind, and soiled on the floor. He's fine with me leaving him at my home all day with his sister, just something like that can push him over the edge.
  12. Grustoms Check, per Richard Skipworth! The bathroom following is to make sure you don't fall in the toilet. The cats make sure I don't go down the tub drain. Driving assistant--must snark at least ONCE at your sister COS MOM SHE'S TOUCHIN ME!!! and scare you so you don't fall asleep at the wheel. Barking and whining are optional.
  13. Early today-- a package, Hooray! From way out west til Xmas, can it rest?
  14. My Johnny was like that--he had a very, very few dogs that he would not react to. He hated getting in the sniffing scrums that greyhounds love, it was way too much for him and I think he felt trapped. I brought him to as many walks and meet & greets as I could, he would stand the whole time, but he did find a few calmer "buddies" that we could hang out with. He was very comfortable with GT'er LBass' Spirit, they were like two little nervous peas in a pod. Spirit is not a pushy boy, and that is what Johnny liked. I got Eugene (AKA Gino) in March, and he is like Spirit, a kind of Beta Boy. The only time Johnny really snarked at Eugene is when they first met, and when Eugene thought Johnny was the cats, sneaking up to steal his food. They got along so well for the three short months they were together. They even shared a hotel room with two senior girls at Mountain Hounds.
  15. Oh boy, oh yeah Eugene got a package Can it wait to Xmas day?? (PS, I will be getting mine out soon, I have been suffering with repeated migraines again and it really knocks me down for days. I promise to get them out by Festivus )
  16. OUCH! I think a loosely fitted sock might help to keep the dirt out, and let the air circulate around. Get well soon Violet!
  17. Got my elf, thanks for all the volunteers!
  18. That hound is certainly, ahem, Rubenesque.
  19. Oh no, give that sweet girl a from us. Don't beat yourself up, you know these hounds find the weirdest ways to get hurt and then not even show it!
  20. RSVP'd yesterday--I think we should let the elves handle coordination between matches.
  21. It depends on the group. My Johnny was fostered in a 4th floor apartment. Which was good, because I live in a condo.
  22. Older, yes, can you imagine two young girls bouncing around? There are people here who have two girls--I've been told that girls have a tendency to fight more, but it really, really, really depends on the dogs. I had two males for a while, they both got along great. Now I have a older boy and a younger girl, he can't live without her. They have gotten into a couple of squabbles, my boy Gino is a bit space possessive, and does NOT want to share his bed with anyone. They walk and get skritiches together just fine, just don't get snuggly!
  23. I was in the same boat as you--I got Gino in March to be a buddy for my boy Johnny. Gino is a beta boy, and him and Johnny got along well. Unfortunately, Johnny passed away quite unexpectedly in June. I gave myself and Gino three months to mourn and bond ourselves a little more, to hopefully get him out of his shell. We adopted Fuzzy in September, she is a sweet little girl and just the right companion for Gino. They've had a couple of squabbles, but Gino cannot live without her. She's even bringing him out a little more, he plays with stuffies when she gets to playing, too. He takes comfort in her, laying his head on her back. I would say to look at galgos, too. There are a lot of greyhound people who have both.
  24. I have three cats and two greys now--they all get along inside the house. But OH BOY, when we are out walking, that's a whole different story. They both want to go meet that cat (or possum, or with Fuzzy, THAT SQUIRREL!!), so I have to say in the VOG "NO CAT" and pull them along and keep walking. Fuzzy's squirrel obsession takes the form of statuing and staring--I got her a harness and it is a lot easier to get her moving with that opposed to the martingale. I say "let's go" or "keep walking" in a happy tone. She is doing a LOT better than when I first got her, she did a backflip on leash trying to get a squirrel out of a tree!
