Time, space and patience ..... I agree with everything already posted. Seems weird that letting them be and ignoring them until they are ready to seek you out is the best method. Maybe your son could be in charge of feeding? Every grey we’ve ever had has been very food motivated and reward motivated. So easy to train if treats are involved . Before you know it Bella will he seeking you out for affection, she’s been through tremendous changes in her short life — but the best is yet to come for her.

We used treats to train ours, too. At first reaching hands thru the door with a treat in it, then opening it a bit so they could see us with great on the other side, then tossing a treat thru the door each way ..... and always much “doggie door praise”. doesn’t take them long at all to learn. But beware .. we always verbally said “doggie door” and “good doggie door”. In the beginning one of ours was standing by the door - when I said “doggie door” he ran to the treat jar, not the back door - lol. But they are all doggie door champs and have been for years.

Rocket was a legend here. I’ll never forget the wedding . I didn’t think I’d be able to read your tribute since I’m still grieving for sweet Ronee that had the same hind end weakness and difficulties that rocket did. Beautiful tribute that made me ashamed I wasn’t as able to express emotions And find beautiful words about our sweetest Ronee. Too many special losses this last couple weeks.......our hearts with you.
