Mandy's Choo Choo And Greys Big Show

It has been almost a year since we lost Choo.. she left us last April.. and I have never been able to write a Remembrance for her. Why? Anger, mostly. We believe we lost her to a brain tumour and I have been pissed off at the world since. I've felt guilty about not giving her the tribute that she deserves... but I just couldn't... in truth, I still don't feel like I can do her justice here.

Then just a little over a week ago we lost Show. He'd been having health issues since not long after we lost Choo. First allergies.. and then lethargy and pain that we couldn't really pin down. We ran tests.. we treated symptoms.. we were at the vet every other week trying to figure it out. Our time ran out on Thursday March 21. He was panting and seeming uncomfortable. I checked him over and his gums were almost white. We got him up to the vet clinic right away, but his beautiful, big heart just gave out.

I can't say I'm anywhere near done grieving either of them. I'm not even to the point of really processing the loss of either of them... but today I felt ready to write, at least this little bit. They were both amazing dogs, for totally different reasons. They will both be in my heart forever. I want them to be honoured as they deserve to be, even if I am still struggling with my own grief.

This picture shows how I see them at the bridge today... hanging out together, laying in the sunshine.

:bighug I know how hard this was to write. I know how much you loved them both. They were very, very cool dogs.

I'm so happy I played a part in bringing both of these cool kids home to you.

Love you CL.

For me, I found I never stop missing Bailey, nor does the pain ever go away, it just becomes tolerable. We all grieve differently; it's a process. Let yourself be whatever you need to be...no apologies, no excuses. We'll be here for you. :grouphug

My blog about grief The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not get over the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same, nor would you want to. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." -- Unknown

I'm so sorry. I remember when you adopted Choo Choo after she retired from the Race for Adoption. It was like you adopted a star! I'm very sorry about Show, also. So much loss on less than a year :grouphug

When I saw her name... I started to cry (still crying as I type) I'm sorry for your pain... But know, my heart hurts for you...

When I heard she needed help with transport... I knew I would do anything for one of Mandy's babies...I remembering walking Choo at the airport and thinking she had Mandy's swagger.... From stories, I think they were very similar. I feel your pain.... Our girls were special, no doubt...

When I heard the news, I couldn't bring myself to ask, I'm sorry for that......

I also met Show... At the time I didn't know he was going home with you... I was so happy when I heard that news....

They were without a doubt, 2 awesome dogs... They were LOVED that's what matters!!
