tbhounds
Don't give up hope-the mass can absolutely be benign. One large mass can be a hematoma however, before taking him to surgery you might want an abdominal ultrasound done first to make sure the liver is clean. You also should do some quick chest rads. I have seen many many of these masses come back benign.

MP_the4pack
We're back from the vet. It wasn't bloat. She found a very large mass on his spleen, possible hematoma, but considering his age and large size she said probably looking at a tumor, most likely hemangiosarcoma . I take him into my regular vet tomorrow first thing to discuss him doing a splenectomy or letting him go . I feel so numb right now. And to think I thought I could fix this with some Gas-x. Here's my sweet boy if you wouldn't mind keeping him in your thoughts. That's the first thing that came to my mind. I just lost my Crystal. I rushed her to the vets thinking bloat and it was hmangio. I'm sorry. Spoil him rotten. However, if it's still just in the spleen a splenectomy will work. I just depends on if it's spread yet.
