Our Ranger was diagnosed with Lymphoma in May, 2011. After much research, discussion with Vets and the input from other wonderful Grey owners, we decided to do supportive care only. The original prognosis, without treatment, was 3-55 days. Chemo was out of the question and I decided not to do any other protocol, including using Pred. He has been on a high protein diet with supplements. He was slowly succumbing to this horrible disease but he continued his daily routines and twice daily walks. The nodes in his neck were getting so large that they were compressing his trachea and, even though I continued to spoon feed, he continued to lose weight. We were going to send him to the Bridge a couple of weeks ago then he would rally. He was getting very uncomfortable and I called my Vet who agreed that it was time. Never an easy decision to make but my Vet's office and staff are wonderful and he had a peaceful passing. We miss him dearly.

I struggled so much (as some of you know) deciding on not to do any treatment. Now, due to his age and a pre-existing kidney issue, I am glad we followed the plan we did as he was with us with just short of 6 months and was able to maintain his daily activities.

When we considered *fostering* we really never intended to adopt a Grey but, as fate would have it, we flunked Fostering 101. We had about 9 years with this sweet boy. Where did that time go? He will be dearly missed. This is the first time in many many years I have no dog in my home. Due to family health issues, it is probably for the best for now.

Run free, our sweet boy. You were such a gentle soul.
