Clark Needs Prayers Again - Tumor Removal

I fostered Clark for CFG out of Michigan in 2008. He collapsed and was temporarily paralyzed before making a miraculous recovery that led to my first foster failure. I haven't been active on greytalk for awhile but came back here hoping it would work its magic a second time in sending prayers for his recovery. The links to his previous injury are located here.

Recently I noticed a mass about the size of a golf ball on Clark's chest. Our previous vet did a fine needle aspirate and found no indication of cancer. We moved to a new state, got a new vet and noticed the mass began growing. Almost overnight it became the size of a tennis ball.

We had it removed today. The vet just called to tell me it had been attached to the muscles around his sternum and that the surgery was pretty rough because of it. The vet also told me when he looked at it, he was seeing a lot of abnormal cells. They are sending it to the lab to get it checked for cancer. The vet did not seem optimistic...and something about his tone of voice just sounded...resigned...

I'm scared for my boy. I am going to visit him at the clinic now. He could use prayers if anyone has any to spare. Thanks

I went and saw Clark. His stitches extend from his front legs about 12 inches or more back on his stomach. The vet said whatever it was had spread all the way into his chest cavity but he is pretty sure they got all of it out. Clark is still pretty out of it but I will get to bring him home for the night in a few hours then take him back to have the bandages changed tomorrow.

He's really bruised up and in a lot of pain but he seemed to know I was there.

Thank you for the prayers.

Clark wasn't able to come home last night and the vet doesn't know if he'll be able to come home today either. This is seeming more serious than I expected. I thought it was going to be a simple mass removal...

Thank you all for the prayers
