  1. I pick up each time after all 3 dogs. I have beige carpet and hate poopfoot and I have a small yard. They all manage to step in that one spot, so I clean up immediately. I do use poop bags and put them in the regular garbage can on pickup day usually in a dog food bag, chewy box, or whatever grocery bags are left over. I keep a pail with dirt in it for loose, runny poop. I just cover the mess up, then pick up with a garden trowel. If it's warm weather I can just rinse afterwards. Most of the loose stuff gets kind of soaked up in the dirt. When Candy had squirms, I put up an ex-pen for her to potty. Then I rinsed with water and dish soap.
  2. Wiki, you are a pretty leef holder downer! When Mom was raking leefs yesterday, we just peed on dem. Candy
  3. Prayers for Punkin from all of us. We had those same concerns before Candy's ultrasound. It is still in the back of my mind and I keep a close watch on her.
  4. MMMM pirogies!!! My ex's family would make kielbasa at Easter time. All the family would gather at Mom's with their roasting pans. We would cut up the pork butts, season and each family would take a pan home for the week. We would have to mix in some water and turn the meat throughout the week. The next weekend we would all go to Mom's to grind up the meat and stuff the casings. Then it was divided up for each family to take home. Best kielbasa I ever had! Good times and great memories! And we all still have a good relationship even as exes. (I've been very blessed with good people in my life). Celeste Wiki, dis is Candy. The way to take care of that LampChomp is to rip out it's frowt. That is what I did to Mark's bday LampChomp . Mummy was KNOT amused, but so what I say! I'm cute!!
  5. that Punkin is doing better. Candy seems to be doing ok on the Royal Canin food and omeprazole. I don't think the pancreatitis is an issue any more and the hooks have been taken care of (). What I have noticed is that whenever we have a change in routine, she will start having tummy issues. I did back down on the omep. but had to up the dosage again. We've had a roller coaster summer here and I think that is what started her up again. So for the time being I will keep her on the vet diet and try not to upset the routine too much.
  6. AWWWWW! Butt Wiki, you look sooo sweet. Like a sweet little Polish Grandma. Now I want Polish food for dinner!!
  7. Yeah, I've had fosters chew my bedside table corners, dresser legs, even the skirt of my sofa, just because "I can Mom". It's a dog thing. I always redirect and give something that is ok to chew on. They can be stinkers.
  8. From what the news said around here, the dogs were either not vaccinated or hadn't had recent updated vaccinations.
  9. Candy was diagnosed with pancreatitis too. I won't buy Hills food so she was put on Royal Canin HP, pred, cerenia, sucralfate, and also had hookworms - so meds for that too. She is still on the HP food ( from Chewy who is a bit cheaper than the vet) and occasionally needs the sucralfate. We did an ultrasound and found her duodenum has a thickened wall. No idea why at this point. She has an appointment next month and hopefully we can find out what is going on with her too. I hope Lulu and Punkin are better soon.
  10. She needs more toys! We have 4 boxes full here! Her doppelgänger sez "poor depribed houndie, Shame on you Mistress".
  11. I started out fostering for my greyhound group before actually adopting. (haha we adopted our first foster 2 weeks in!) I've been fostering for many years now. It has been an awesome, rewarding experience for us. I've learned to sit down with each foster and explain that I am just a step in the journey to their forever home. (it helps me to not feel broken hearted when they leave) You've received good info in the other posts. Make sure you follow your adoption group's rules. I introduce my dogs one at a time in the yard after the foster has had a chance to potty and explore. Muzzles always! Then the resident dogs come inside first followed by the foster on leash. We explore for awhile then I put the foster in the kennel he/she will be using for a short rest. My group requires kenneling (I'm fine with that!), just in case the new owner will need to kennel. I start right away with house rules. It has been easier in my experience having a resident dog. The foster follows along and learns quickly. Even if you don't adopt that dog, know you are helping it to find it's happy new home. I've learned so much from each and every dog who has come through my doors and I've made some good friends with some of my foster's adopters. Good luck and have fun!
  12. Such wonderful memories of your sweet crew! I won 2 of the bonnets you put in an auction. They are still in the box because my dogs (at the time) would have destroyed them.
  13. I think Rocket wore the Pimpmaster hat the best , but it looks good on the others. My Mark sez "looken good dere buddie" to your Mark.
  14. We have 4' black vinyl covered chain link fencing. I have a spray can of coating for any spots I might weed whip off so it should last a very long time. Not as expensive as privacy fencing. Have always had chain link fencing because it lasts a long time. Because we live on a corner I could not fence more of the lot and I couldn't put up a 6' fence on certain sides. The black vinyl covering does make it kind of disappear and we had lots of compliments from the neighbors when we put it up. I have 2 gates.
  15. Could be worse than that. I had a dog raid the bathroom garbage can and do the same thing
  16. Happy Happy BIrthday Wiki! Lubs, Candy, Hope, Mark & Mama too!
  17. Wiki, I think you have a hampsum admirer there ^^^. I'm jellus. Candy (your twinsy)
  18. I canKNOT get over how much Wiki and Candy look alike! Such a pretty girl! Loved your card and it has joined Lila's on the "place of honor" the "frigerater". Merry Christmas from all of us here!
  19. Absolutely this! Jan always knows the best way to say things. I'm sure he is scared when he can't make his legs work. My prayers are with you at this very sad time.
  20. Aww thank you for this annual Christmas cheery post. I will try to be more like Specky this year
  21. Yes, my dogs have grieved the loss of a pack mate. I try to do fun things with them to keep them busy at first. Pre-greyhounds we had 2 cats & 2 dogs. As the dogs passed and one of the cats, the lone cat was really lost and would circle through the house crying. She passed shortly afterward. With the greyhounds, I was fostering so there was less grieving.
  22. Both of mine are in decorative tins from the crematorium (in plastic bags) with their tag collars looped around. At first I had them on my dresser, moved them to the living room mantle, and now they are on the top shelf of my curio cabinet. Their paw prints are also with the tins. I don't care if anyone would be offended. The dogs were part of my family and if I want their ashes near in my own home, that's what I'm going to do. I buried my cats and other dogs (very small) in my garden at the last house. I regret not being able to have them with me now. So going forward, I will always have the ashes near me. I will probably change out the tins for something nicer later on.
  23. I have used green beans added to the food when a dog needs to lose a few pounds.
