  1. GPA Wisconsin had a dog that lost it's life due to finding mints in his owners purse that had xylitol in them another friend had theirs get into something with it but knew it right away and shoved a crapload of sugar into their pup (xylitol causes the blood sugar in dogs to drop drastically, very quickly). The dog survived because of his actions. terrible stuff

  10. oh Twiggy!!! there will NEVER be another like you. EVER. 2GreysDad, no advice, just hugs and glad your girl is doing so well after her amp!
  11. our Rainey did that after she began having seizures at age 10. She would act like she'd never seen the room she was in, the backyard, etc. Sniffing, moving her head rapidly, walking in circles. We suspected a brain tumor (causing the seizures) but it was not found on an MRI done 10/4/10 (her 10th bday) and we let her go the day before she was supposed have her second, knowing even if they found something she needed to be released from all that was going on with her. This could just be the beginning of dementia and not a tumor, probably more likely - just mentioning that Rainey did the same thing. I know there are meds now to help with dementia, perhaps talk to your vet? hugs. It's very hard to watch them like this
  12. don't we even know what the poor girl's name was
  13. oh no I am so very, very sorry your baby girl is gone
  14. our Zeke has been having the exact same issues as the original poster -- neck issue and he would yelp when his nose was touched, like if he went to rub on the side of the bed or one time when Bruce just went to pet him. He's been on 300mg Gabapentin 3 x day for the last couple months. Hope your pup feels better. I don't know why the nose would cause pain other than I think the neck pain hurt when he moved his head downward, and that's what happened when he cried out from the nose. Weird.
  15. Larry just had to have the same thing done a week ago. He had split the webbing years ago and somehow split the flesh in between the outer and next in toe on his back left foot. It required 8 stitches and she just used a local. How she got the stitches in there is still amazing to me. They are the dissolvable kind so I have to keep a bootie on it at night so he can't lick and remove the stitches himself (14 days to dissolve, we are on day 8 only.... ) I just put a plastic sandwich baggie secured with a small rubber band on his foot when he goes out to pee (leash walked) to keep it clean and dry. good luck with your girl!
  16. Update on Monday 5/13 -- on day 5 of antibiotics and I'm happy to report the nostril is looking a LOT better and he is not licking continuously -- thank God! Hopefully it was just irritated from what probably is a sinus infection. now if we can only get him to start eating well again! thanks!
  17. it's possible, we walk in the park next door every day (although not much this week since it's been raining and he was wonked from the dental). I'll see if I can find a small mirror and try it. I *think* so since I can see the mucus moving around sometimes when he breathes so guessing he's getting air in/out. sorry I looked this morning (my flashlight is good but it's hard to see in there) and I do not see the bloody blister thing. I will keep a close eye on it. Here's a picture of what it looks like today, I don't think the greyish looking stuff is normal though I emailed our regular vet (that saw him and it yesterday) about seeing a specialist, I don't know if she needs to refer us or even what kind of specialist he would need to see? Sorry if pics are gross. Thanks....
