robinw
My friends are looking after Iker and Xavi while I am out of town. Got a phone call after my flight landed saying that Xavi managed to eat a sheet of chocolate brownies and one of those compressed bird seed bells that were on top of their fridge...while muzzled. Since his belly was bloated they were taking him to the evet, which is good. They took X-rays to rule out bloat (negative) then gave him several shots of morph one to induce vomiting. Mostly birdseed came up with very little chocolate. It took two shots to get him to vomit, which he probably did on purpose; after all it's morphine he will also receive charcoal and anti nausea drugs. He is still there but will be fine. robinw
We're hoping that the morphine will slow him down but at the same time hoping that he doesn't develop a habit Just got a text saying that the birdseed is now coming out the back end and that he's drooling a lot. Batmom
Drooling = nausea most likely. I'd be nauseous, too, if I ate that stuff . Only giggling because it sounds like he really will be fine. RedHead
Poor Xavi!! Glad to hear that he will be fine though. My mutt Karma always seems to get into the birdseed. I am not so paranoid about my own pets, but I worry so much if I am petsitting for other people. This post has reminded me why!! Sending good vibes to Xavi. greysmom
So sorry for Xavi! We finally had to fence off the bird feeders when all their poop was bird seed. The crows were scattering the poop all over looking for the seed, making it impossible to pick up!
