Also, all the tests and hospital stays are quite expensive and we don't always know where it is all leading. So, we follow our vet's path. We reach a time, after all, when we see nothing more can be done. We are extending our dog's life, but, to what end. You know your pet and the decision is yours. Whatever decision you make, no one can fault you. Been there and done that. You love you dog; you are his best friend and only want him to be comfortable. Whether it is here or in heaven. G-d bless you with this difficult decision. Victor Posted July 8, 2014 Author Share Posted July 8, 2014 What a day. When we went to see Duke around 1pm we were devastated, thinking we were going to have to say goodbye. Then he surprised everyone and started doing a little better again. This afternoon he even got up on his own several times. He's not out of the woods yet, but there's still fight in his eyes. We're going to stay the course until he or his body tells us otherwise. Thanks again for all your support and prayers. We're pretty much running on empty (emotionally and physically), so I may not post as many updates these next few days. Please continue to think good thoughts for Duke! Someone told me in February that our Paulie was going to pass soon. Well, here it is July, and he is still with us. He is eating, pooping and seems happy. Sure he is frail, but he is still fighting, too.
