RaineysMom Posted April 19, 2014 Share Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) if you could spare a prayer for our Larry, we'd sure appreciate it he threw up a little brown liquid around 1am, then again around 3am. He seemed fine at 5:15am so we fed him, and he threw all that back up around 7:15am (and re-ate it) and then threw up again around 11am. Bruce took him to the vet (thinking bloat, since Rainey and Anubis BOTH bloated, we know the symptoms). They did a chest xray and don't think it's bloat, but they found a suspicious mass. They asked if he could have possibly ingested something (like a sock) but he is muzzled when he goes outside, crated when we leave (and all that's in his crate is a dog bed) and the rest of the time is with us 24/7 and we didn't see him eat anything and nothing is missing. they are doing an upper GI with barium and will be taking pictures every hour to try to figure out what it is -- an object or tumor or what. We go back at 4:30pm to get the results. RaineysMom Posted April 19, 2014 Author Share Posted April 19, 2014 well, he's back home now. Dr. Sutarik at Lombard Veterinary Hospital is the BEST. We just LOVE him. He said the barium has been moving ok through his system, there's a little left in the stomach still but he wasn't concerned. He said to give him a small meal around 7pm, gave him an injection of famotidine (sp) and cerenia and also has put him on Flagyl. If he throws up anymore, he will need to go back in tomorrow for more testing, like ultrasound and might have to be hospitalized. Thankfully, he hasn't (knock on wood) thrown up since right before he left for the vet at 11:00am. if you can continue the prayers and good wishes, hopefully he will get through this and be back to his usual self. thanks so much for all the thoughts and prayers so far!
