Guest june
Friday night my beautiful Jazzy left me suddenly. About an hour after we went to bed she cried out. I was out of bed instantly but by the time I took the two steps to her bed she was gone. Other than some weakness in her back end and a bit of arthritis she was a happy, active, loving girl. There was no indication that she was sick. As sad as I am that she is gone it is a blessing that she died at home and she did not suffer.Jazzy lead me into the world of greyhounds over 9 years ago and has been my constant loving companion. She was with me through my chemo when I was diagnosed with cancer. I jokingly called her Nurse Jazzy but there was more truth in that than anyone could know. She welcomed every dog into our home. It didn't matter if they needed a respit until they found their forever home or were visiters to Club York. She was a gracious hostess.Because of Jazzy I went places and met people who enriced my life more than I could have ever dreamed. When I got Jazzy (at 18 months old) she was very timid so after some time we started obedience work to help boost her confidence; and boy did it! I loved walking through the neighborhood letting her practice and showing off for the neighborhood kids. I then decided we would try competing. I was scared to death going into the ring, but she lifted her head, wagged her tail and strutted her stuff. I overcame my fear because I knew how much she loved it. She let me know she loved the elderly so she became a therapy dog through TDI: Therapy Dog International. She knew which residents wanted to pet her and who not to approach. We often visited a local Alzhimer nursing home where some of the residents, even if they couldn't recognize their children, often called Jazzy by name.Jazzy is at peace and I have no doubt she is at the bridge running and playing with Teak and Reunite. As someone said to me the other day, Jazzy had a peaceful passing. I got a kick in the heart. Rona, Angel and I are greiving and giving each other what comfort we can. But our lives have been irrevocably changed. Who knew when I saw those beautiful haunted eyes on the web page that she would change so many lives; most of all mine. Godspeed my beautiful girl until we meet again
