Guest greybookends Posted February 12, 2013 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Daytona came to me July 11, 2009. After spending 11 years on the farm. Daytona ran 6 races and then went to the farm and had 9 pups, after which she was simply left on the farm. she didn't even live in a kennel but outside. Christina Newsome of Triangle Greyhound Society convinced them to let her be put up for adoption. I picked her up the day after my DD's wedding on my way home from the mountains. What a hot ticket she was. W did not call her Wiggle Butt for nothing. She was hard to get a good picture of because she wouldn't stand still whenever the camera came out. I will miss the way she would run out just before bed and immediately run right back in because she knew cookies came at bedtime and I had better be quick about it or she would stamp her feet at me to hurry up. She was not a snuggler but she never turned down ear scritches and she had the most beautiful set of bat ears. I really thought she was going to make 15 but the last couple of weeks she went down hill. The twinkle in her eye was gone, as was the wiggle and the stamp. She wasn't eating, not even cookies. All she wanted was water and she could no longer hold it. She was up 3,4,5 times at night to go out and then she was real slow to lay back down which tells me she was in pain and she was panting a lot. I couldn't let her go on this way so today I placed her in Gods loving hands and asked Him to take her to Bill and he would show her where the cookies are. I wish we had more time together baby girl. I love you and will miss you. She loved to dig and take dirt naps. I haven't seen her roach in quite some time and she was real good at it. Her first set of jammies. Are those the most awesome set of ears? One of the last pictures I got of her. This was only about a month ago. She was so classic and she ALWAYS wore a set of pearls. I miss you so much. She has already had "heaven on earth" for the last 3 1/2 years, so she should be all ready for what's to come! And Bill will be there to greet her. What a beautiful lady she was.
