AnneGTS
Since yesterday Spriet is in much pain. Spriet has troubles getting up, the last time she screamed really loud. When she walks it's a bit wobbly. It seems like the back of her body is in pain. We went to the vet this morning and he thinks it's a hernia. He gave her a cortisone shot but right now (5 hours later) there's no improvement. When the vet touched her belly and back she screamed. He will call us this evening (in approx. 5 hours) to see what to do next. Xrays will probably not be an option because she's in so much pain. We're not sure what options are left. AnneGTS
Did the vet prescribe any pain meds? Tramadol, buprenex? She's on prednisone. He talked about Tramadol but wanted to wait because it will probably make her dull/sleepy. Quote Anne, Sasha & Tapas. AnneGTS
She seems to be a bit better now.. Still in pain, but not so restless anymore. The vet called and we can get her some Tramadol. The vet will call us tomorrow morning to see if things improve. If not, we will see what to do next. I am so sorry -- you must be so distressed. If x-rays are really indicated why can't Spriet be anesthetized for them? I'm not sure, but the last time she had an x-ray done she still could feel the pain even though she had a light anesthesia. She's 10 years old now and I don't know if they will do a full anesthesia. Maybe if all other options are ruled out we can try that. Quote Anne, Sasha & Tapas. AnneGTS
Question: We didn't give her the Tramadol yet. Spriet has had some tummy issues and I don't know if the Tramadol will affect that? The vet said that Tramadol doesn't give that kind of problems, but when I read about the side effects on the internet it says something else.. Has anyone ever given Tramadol, which caused tummy issues? (vomiting, diarrhea?) Quote Anne, Sasha & Tapas.
