My Prince had recently passed away, I had just discovered I was pregnant, and I had to let go of my dream to be come an architect. Truly, my life was a mess. Jody knew you needed to be in my life more an I did. I had to wait for you to become 8 wks old before meeting you. The day she brought you in to work you were nothing but a small furry orange ball of fur. You were so small and sweet and named you Elmo. Elmo was really popular 16 years ago. You grew and I soon became aware that you're not that sweet. You were a terror! You attacked everything that moved and some things that didn't. I was a tad scared on what you would do to my baby, so we got you a playmate, Pepper, and all was good in the world. More or less. There are no end to the fond memories you have left me. Baby socks and plastic bags were enemies that needed conquering. I loved how you would growl at me if I tried to save a pair of baby socks from your clutches. Putting groceries away was always an adventure because I never knew when an almost empty bag would get carried off and later on in life you would take every opportunity to hop into an open fridge door. I had to buy a new fridge because of you. See one day I came home at lunch to find lunch meat all over my kitchen floor. The seal on my avocado green fridge didn't hold well and somehow you managed to open the door, hop in, and then open the meat drawer. I was not impressed, but you had a full belly of yummy meats. There was the day you chased my sister out of my house. Oh the view of you sitting at the foot of the door looking up and my sister staring in the small window looking down at you. You were the only cat I knew who would jump onto people. It was so nice to come home open my arms and have you jump into them. Such treasured memories you have left me. For now my lap will be left cold while I'm at the computer. My books will not have a furry obstacle to read around. Leaving the house will be easier, since I won't have to scurry to give you treats or else you'll grapple onto my legs 'till I shower you with goodies. My hair elastics will no longer be wet and at the bottom of your water dish. Life will definitely hold a little less adventure. Please play nicely with Pepper when you meet across the rainbow bridge. That other cat is Prince, so be nice to my provider of headless rodents and the occasional bird because he will take you down. Quote JoAnne, Instagram username mizhunie.
