Might be she could have a higher dose of the tramadol than she was prescribed. some dogs have adverse psychotic reactions with tramadol. felix who weighs 75# can only tolerate a half dosage. when i give him a full 50mg he is comatose for over a day. i was able to get annie when she was injured up to the 50mg dosage after 4 days of 1/2 dosages. it sounds like shine wants to be with mama and poppa at night. but all will work out and irene & lenny you will catch up on that much needed sleep. heartdogs Posted February 4, 2018 Share Posted February 4, 2018 I've had 2 dogs that had bad reactions to tramadol as I do & the vets always said it was strange that it isn't suppose to cause that reaction but dogs are like people they all get different reactions to meds. She has a slight fever, 104, and she was being bothered by the cast, so our vet shortened it and gave her another anti biotic. They said she was getting a pressure sore from the cast and that she was an excellent patient. Some more $. What can you do? She is our girl. Thanks for asking. Video will show a 2-piece cast on my friend's greyhound after torn tendon repair. Something like this may be easier on Shine. It was done by Dr Steven Neihaus at Capital Vet Specialist in Jacksonville FL. I have never been so happy when they said she could be out of it permanently!! Even with leash walking it was completely easier to deal with than constantly being worried about that d@mn cast! Hope shine feels better now! Carl Doby in NC rehabs broken leg dogs and he may have dealt with a fracture like Shine's. I remember that after all Barbaro went through just when he appeared to be well and they were planning his return to KY that vet from KY went up there to Bolton and put a cast on him just to "improve" things further. That led to a sore, then to surgery to repair the cast induced sores, and ultimately his death. I don't like casts-always seems best to avoid them if at all possible. Dr. Richardson, the vet at Bolton who healed him, did NOT have a cast on him.
